Is it normal to only drive 45 mins of a 2 hour slot ?

He told me he’d be 10 mins late, arrived 15 mins but still counted it as 10. They came from being off all day & and from home which fairly close to me🥲.

I said it’s been a few years since I’ve driven a manual (only authorised to drive automatic) and so not comfortable on a main road - we arranged this a week ago and that they’d come pick me up - I assumed we’d be driving in our local area. We did not. We went to quieter roads that was allegedly 30 mins out.

We drove 45 mins instead out, and they took a few weird turns which increased our journey.

Then he ended it 5 - 10 mins early because they needed to go meet someone else.

Is this normal? I wish they had told me the quieter roads were further away , could’ve just met there since we arranged it early enough.

I feel shortchanged 😔

At this rate , I’ll need to double the hours I thought I needed before even thinking about passing a test

temp work and Employee Service Check (ECS)/PVN whilst on 3C leave

i'm on 3c which means i still have the same full rights to work. comes without shock companies dont want to offer me long term positions, but are okay with part time/flexible/freelancing positions. Even with the latter, it comes with some pleading.

its a pain to ask multiple short term employers to keep doing the ECS whilst i'm undergoing appeal so i lose opportunities, especially with smaller companies. I feel they are too lazy do the simple tick box exercise exercise to get the PVN, scared of the risk (although i am still in the very early stages of appeals, i have just applied for it - so should be at least another 6 - 9 months), or overwhelmed with work to add this task, or ignorant of the immigration jargon. understandably, theyd go with candidates they dont have to go the extra mile for to onboard.

if only the ECS could give me the chance to request my own Positive Notification Verification, instead of only the company doing it- i could then make copies and give it to them at interviews so this is no longer a barrier.

Is this whole process deliberately hostile so work is scarce, money is few and i leave on my own accord before the appeal is held in court?

not a sob story, just looking for advice

*context: 10+ years in UK, applied for ILR continuous, unfortunately, 1 long absence of >180 days cause my father had cancer and passed. they did not accept my application, claiming i left the uk to see him before things looked bad on paper so argued how serious his condition was in the earlier stages, and argued that i could have returned earlier but did not as this is evident that UK is not my home and its a priveldge to be here, not a right. also claimed i didnt make 10 years by time of application, saying i was on covid assurance which didnt break residency - but didnt add to it either - I WAS NEVER ON COVID ASSURANCE. Also claimed i made some out of time applications, which again, i never did.

Submitting my application to appeal ILR (long residence) decision

I applied on my own, but

  1. can I withdraw and reapply through a solicitor before the deadline ? Deadline is Friday 22nd May.

  2. can I leave my appeal application as it, but if I need the help of a solicitor to draft an argument etc , will the home office/tribunal accept this ?

  3. can I request to have the £140 appeal fee waived ? I’m not using asylum nor am I on benefits. I’m low income cause I’ve recently lost my job, employer didn’t like the instability of being on 3C leave , so I’m looking for something new

i have the helios 2 series 300w, so a mini... its currently hanging off the edge of my headboard as its most efficient to use in bed (when i first wake up and last thing before bed with mediation),,, ofcourse it slips every so often and sometimes i get a big whack ha! looking for alternative stands that are compatible. £300 is crazy. £20-50 is fair
