PlatinumLED, Mito, RLThome, Hooga... All have many fake reviews.. What is a quality panel?

After lots of research and reading reddit threads, all these major companies have many bots and ai written posts here on reddit! I'm looking for a panel but now don't trust any of these companies. Has anyone real had success with a panel that was worth the money? Thanks

Red light therapy

I’m between the shark mask and the omnilux men’s mask…. I don’t want to fall for marketing but those are the two I’m finding the best reviews for. I’ve also heard a lot about Dr. Dennis masks?

(Not interested in a panel - I already have one. Just looking to add a face mask so I can be more mobile)

Testing Megellin Device

I wanted to make sure I was getting the therapeutic dose from my red light therapy arch like device I bought from this company and so bought an led light meter to test it. I'm shocked at the results. Is it possible I'm testing it incorrectly? They claim 40mw/cm² but my tester is reading much lower. Should I be multiplying the results by the amount of bulbs? I'm lost.... or maybe in denial since I've had this thing for months.

The pics are a screenshot of the results with just red light on, then with the NIR option on, the app starting screen, my testing set up to get the meter in the position to about where my nose would be, the actual device and the tester I'm using. The 46mw/cm² reading was me walking onto my porch at about 10am

Misleading "FDA Clearance" Claims: Why Bestqool Red Light Therapy Panels May Not Be What They Claim

I recently started researching Bestqool red light therapy panels after a friend recommended them. However, looking closely at their official product pages and documentation reveals significant red flags regarding their regulatory claims.

  1. Fake FDA Certificates Displayed on Product Pages

If you scroll down to the certificate images on their product pages, the company showcases paperwork designed to look like official FDA clearance certifications. The FDA does not issue decorative wall certificates.

You can view these graphics directly on their individual product listings:

https://www.bestqool.com/products/portable-red-light-therapy-device-bq40
https://www.bestqool.com/products/red-light-therapy-bq60
https://www.bestqool.com/products/red-light-therapy-pro100
https://www.bestqool.com/products/red-light-therapy-pro200
https://www.bestqool.com/products/red-light-therapy-pro300

  1. Regulatory Mismatch (21 CFR § 878.4810)

When looking into actual FDA filings for Bestqool's parent entity, the only associated filings fall under 21 CFR § 878.4810. This specific regulatory section applies explicitly to a "Laser surgical instrument for use in general and plastic surgery and in dermatology".

Furthermore, these filings are tied to proprietary names for specific laser mask models (which do not appear to be commercially available anywhere). There are two major issues with this:

  1. Device Discrepancy: An LED red light therapy panel is fundamentally distinct from a laser mask.

  2. Umbrella Marketing: They appear to be using a narrow 510(k) clearance for a completely different product category to market their entire line of consumer LED panels.

  3. Influencer & Medical Endorsements

It is disappointing to see clinicians and medical influencers, including high-profile figures like Dr. Joe Whittington, promoting this brand. Many of these self-proclaimed wellness gurus echo the company's "FDA Cleared" marketing script without independently verifying the actual 510(k) submission data or checking if the specific model they are holding is actually covered.

Bottom Line

Before spending hundreds of dollars on these panels under the impression that they hold rigorous medical device clearance, be aware that the regulatory paperwork does not match the hardware being sold.

Has anyone else looked into their 510(k) clearances, or has anyone successfully requested a legitimate FDA clearance letter specifically for the BQ or Pro panel series?

Red LED mask on a bruise

Hi, yesterday I hit my under eye area and I have a tiny red mark, and it is a bit purple. Can I use the red LED mask or is it better to wait until it disappears?

Rosacea Symptoms Worse After Using Red Light Therapy???

I bought the Omnilux Mens LED mask in February to help with redness on my skin.

I don’t necessarily have rosacea but every time I use the mask, I get rosacea like symptoms flare up and linger for a few days. It makes the small blood vessels visible and I get red spots.

I use the mask for 10 minutes. At first I used it every three days but I reduced that to about weekly to see if it would help which it didn’t.

Has anyone had the same reaction? Any advice for me? Or is this mask simply not reacting well to me skin?

What Red Light Mask should I buy?

Hello, everyone. Do you have experiences with these mask? Any pros and cons between the two? I want to hear testimonials and reviews because I am having a hard time to choose and I don't want to waste money from products that doesn't maximize its results and doesn't serve its purpose.

RLT and acne

Just wanted to share my experience. I've been using a Hooga panel for several months, just 4 minutes a day. I mostly noticed one effect: my adult acne was gone just a few days after I started using it.

My skin has become a bit better when it comes to its structure too but I had sculptra a year ago and also started weight lifting last autumn, so I'm not sure which factor has played a role. Overall, I wasn't sure what played the biggest role.

Now I had a week long vacation abroad and didn't take my panel with me of course. This means one week without RLT. After 4-5 days my acne was back.

Back at home and with my RLT device, it's gone again. I'm surprised that the relationship is so direct in my case.

Older users

Anyone use a panel for generalised stiffness and joint pain?

I'm 66 and am at the point where I can barely move sometimes. Wondering if RLT would help to loosen me up a bit.

Thanks!

Anyone switched from a basic 660/850 panel to a multi-wavelength device? Worth it?

I bought the Gerylove AP600 (10 wavelengths). Now I'm wondering if 660nm/850nm would have been enough?

Recs for panel vs mask

Hi RLT community!

I’m looking into red light for a few different “ailments.” F30

I have some sort of autoimmune disorder—my doctors haven’t figured it out yet. Symptoms are chronic fatigue, brain fog, inflammation, joint pain, and mild acne/skin issues like redness and more pustules than acne (like bumpy).

I’m looking for ideally a panel to target more than just the face (arms, chest, and back too), but I want the benefits of the mask if there are any that the panel will target.

My main knowledge right now is from a really in-depth article I read about led masks.

“For the most part, you want to look for an LED device that has BOTH red (typically 633nm, but somewhere between 630-660nm) and NIR (look for 820-840nm, with 830nm being the gold standard) in order to have a positive impact on your skin”

“Three wavelengths of light that have demonstrated several therapeutic applications are blue (e.g., 415nm), red (e.g., 633nm), and near-infrared (e.g., 830nm)”.

I’m wondering if there is kind of a one-size-fits-those-two-quotes-above for me. Is there a panel that hits 415nm, 633nm, and 830nm? And if so, is there a not terribly pricey one out there? Looking to not entirely break the bank especially cause I’m still a tiny bit skeptical about it all lol. I’ve seen a lot of the Hooga (sp?) panels and the CurrentBody mask. Could I get a mask and use it wrapped around my arms or laid across my chest? Idk!!!

There are SO many options and SO many recommendations that say the one they chose is the best and better than the other best. Which one is it!!!!!

Thank you in advance! I am so bad at skincare and self-care!! :)

Title What's the first longevity habit you adopted that actually stuck

Not talking about the extreme stuff. Just one realistic habit that you started and actually managed to keep doing.

For me enough sleep i genuinely don't think any supplement has helped me as much as consistently getting eight hours a night. Everything just works better when I'm well rested

Even Bryan Johnson talks about sleep like it’s the foundation of everything, so I’m taking that as permission to keep my boring answer 😂 Curious what habit ended up sticking for other people: walking, strength training, protein, mobility work, red light therapy, supplements??

Has anyone tried the Inia4D Led mask from Tiktok shop?

I keep seeing the Inia4D Led mask on Tiktok shop and the price looks really tempting but I’m unsure how much to trust it. The specs sound good at first, but I’ve seen mixed comments about the instructions, build quality also FDA clearance claims. I tried looking into it more and now I feel more confused than before. Has anyone used Inia4D for a few months?

Is a red light/laser cap with only 100 lights worth it/effective?

I found a laser cap that’s actually affordable for me, and it supposedly features 650nm and 810nm which are supposed to be effective for new/light thinning and more advanced thinning, but it only has 100 little lights (LEDs?).

Could it be worth it and effective anyway? Maybe because there are so few lights, it would be okay to use daily, without needing a break between sessions?

Just wondering if anyone has any info, experience, advice, helpful two cents, etc!

Need guidance

New to RLT. Just got Mitolight Intro.
Both of us use , around elbow distance away. She uses for face. I use it for scalp and face.
Always use both NiR and red mode together with goggles on.

Do I need to take any more precautions ?

Is it normal for the light to travel to the eyes through the cheeks or forehead?

I am very pale and everytime I use my NuFace red light attachment, it flashes red light in my eyes, no matter where I place it on my face

69 yo Newbie on a budget with a list....

I'm looking into doing RLT and also the others for pain (I have fibro and gouty symptoms), and adult acne. I'm looking for a good solid entry into a light mask that will cover fine lines, large pores, pain and acne. Prices seem all over the map for many, with lots of fake reviews, non-existent customer service, minimal warranty times, scammy return policies and minimal info on wavelengths, LED lights and strengths of the lights. I'm looking to spend less than $500 USD to cover an effective mask. Comfort and flexibility is a plus, effectiveness is a must, and a shelf life of 2+ years for this jump into. I'm 69, a ginger, and I don't have a problem with having to recharge or that I need to walk around while getting in face time. I can sit still, putter on my phone playing cat videos for 30 minutes....lol! Anyone got good recommendations? Pics? Before and after? Experience? Would love to know the ones to avoid as well as the ones to really consider for an old first timer. Thank you all!
