5.1 Side channel placement, small space advice

Good day.

I recently received a free HTB set of Kenwood speakers, and purchased a Dennon X 1700H to drive them and support modern audio formats.

Placement of my centre and FL and FR is no trouble as they can simply flank and centre below the 55" TV. However, I am in a small room, and do not have much space around my couch. I have only about 10" of clearance from the wall to the edges of my sectional on the left, right and behind the couch. What is the best way to make a 5.1 system work well in this scenario without just blasting directly into the ears of the people sitting on the extreme sides of the couch?

Speakers are all part of the Kenwood KS-401HT set. Might not be the best speakers but suspect they will be a big step up from what I had before. Can always upgrade down the line.
