Should I fly back and retrieve luggage? AirTag gives me location.

I had a connecting flight today from FLL to MSP and it stopped in Atlanta. While I was in Atlanta they switched gates twice. Once from E4 to T15 and then back to E5. Somewhere along that line they did not check my bag in/transfer it to the other gate.
My AirTag is in the luggage and I can see precisely where it is. I have things in there I need later this week. Is it worth it dropping $300 for a round trip ticket to ensure I get a bag that has not been tampered with or rummaged through? Am I tweaking? Can I trust Frontier? This is the first time it has happened to me.
I have filed a claim and a complaint. I am also thinking of using the Frontier CC I opened a few months back( for the free checked baggage) to book the flight and just dispute it with them so they reimburse me. I know it sounds stupid but the inconvenience is ridiculous here.
Any advice would be helpful. I was traveling back from a wedding so I do have some valuables and sentimentals in there.
