Can any old timer explain me the history of how the liquor barons of Udaipur became the real estate tycoons later on.
i was recently in an event in which a lot of builders and other business tycoons were partying in a semi social event. it was only for men i guess, of which most of them were oldies (55 and above). I was talking to this one ‘business tycoon’ who was sitting next to me and he explained me what this event was and what wax going on there. I don’t think i should go in any details about it but a few points that really stuck with me was how many of these niche hoteliers in the city were once either the minister or close relative of the king of Udaipur and another story was how once the liquor syndicate of Udaipur was broken by a government policy, how many of them became builder. I really doubt anyone here would be able to answer me but does anyone know who were these liquor barons of Udaipur and how they had so much money back then? I did notice that many sitting in that room were not Rajputs so the point that they were relatives of the king seems highly unlikely. Does anyone knows this side of the story.
