Struggling with Anytype sync across networks—how are you managing seamless sync?
I really love Anytype's overall design and privacy-first approach—in many ways, it feels much faster and more flexible than Notion. However, the sync experience has been quite frustrating for me, and I’m hoping to get some advice from the community.
Currently, sync only seems to work reliably when my devices are on the exact same local network (LAN/Wi-Fi). Even then, I frequently run into sync delays or outright failures. Whenever I am away from home or switching networks, keeping my data up to date across devices becomes really inconvenient.
A few questions for those who have a smooth workflow:
- Remote sync: Is using the official Anytype backup node sufficient for seamless multi-device sync outside LAN, or is self-hosting a backup node (or using tools like Tailscale/VPN) necessary?
- Troubleshooting: Are there specific settings, network permissions, or known quirks I should check to prevent sync from getting stuck?
- Best practices: What does your daily sync routine look like to avoid conflicts and ensure changes push through across mobile and desktop?
I really want to stick with Anytype, but reliable cross-device syncing is essential. Any tips or setups that worked for you would be greatly appreciated!
