Sleep Solidarity

I have a 3.5 month old son who is an absolute joy but he's always been a rough sleeper. He's never managed to sleep for more than 3-4 hours and is usually up every 1.5-2 hours each night.

He exclusively contact naps and contact sleeps no matter what we've tried - waiting until deep sleep, preheating bassinet, putting a worn shirt over the bassinet mattress, etc. If we do manage to transfer him he never stays asleep longer than 25-30 minutes. He will not take a pacifier - again, we've tried so many brands and shapes....

He also despises all carriers we've tried so far (wraps, structured carriers, and slings) so we're truly in a chair or on the couch or whatever with him when he naps. Sometimes he'll be ok with a stroller transfer and we can get a walk in. He used to love napping in the stroller, but now will not fall asleep in it anymore and will scream after 20-30 minutes because he's tired and wants to sleep.

At night he wants to be held so cosleeping often doesn't work and if it does, he wakes after an hour, maybe two if we're lucky but then usually won't go back down unless we hold him.

I honestly don't mind all of this - sure I'd love to get some more sleep and time with my partner but I also know that this is a season and LO will grow and things will change. We keep trying with the bassinet and cosleeping and I know we'll get there eventually.

However, I feel bad whenever I read about how kids "should" be sleeping at this age and would love to hear from others who've had - or currently have - kids with similar needs/dispositions. I love my baby and am truly ok with giving him what he needs at this juncture, but I'd love to know that we're not alone with our experience!

Edited to add: while I posted this looking for solidarity, I certainly welcome all advice, tips, or things that worked for you! Thank you in advance!
