BCBA Collaboration

My BCBA supervised me and asked me anything that needs to be looked over. I pointed out a few things that client needs work with and was asking any comorbid conditions that could help the learner with attention. She begins to berate me and ask me do I know what autism is. Saying do I know autistic kids have social deficits. It was very passive aggressive, like how dare I question her.

Then client has sensory seeking with shoes off, every RBT complains they cant keep client shoes on as a Student Analyst I am trying to step in and help, and has helped client keep shoes on while also teaching "shoes on feet" verbal saying to pair with client feet on ground. Client starts taking shoes off during my supervision and i put them on and say shoes on feet. Client does not engage in any maladaptive behaviors with me, just continues playing. The BCBA says to me client doesn't have to have shoes on because of sensory seeking. I said okay, I said client didn't respond like it bothered client so Ill just keep them on. Then she said im going against what client wants. I thought the goal was shoes on because of daily living skills. I said what about safety, something falling on client feet or stepping on something sharp (i pick up nails daily off the floor) she said that doesn't matter if mom said its okay. I let it go, and continued supervision.

Then she showed me "attending to book target" She places client on her lap, arm wrapped around in front and one hand on client hands point clients fingers to pictures and words prompting client to attend but the goal is for client to attend on own and she is counting it as attending so I said can you update that so ill know what "attending" actually means and got backlash.

Another target is client will look at me when name called count as a plus. During supervision, client did not look at me and she kept telling me to count as a + if client even looked up or looked to the left or right I said can you add that for technical reasons in the program and it felt like she was just disgruntled.

Two days later after this interaction with her, I was fired by the clinic owner/BCBA. I am still left with no explanation other than "how the supervision interaction was handled".

I started to think could I have asked these questions better etc etc, but even as a student I feel like as my BCBA she could also say that. Like hey you're entering territory thats out of your competency or something. Idk Im just left confused and still feel like the client program will never be updated or appropriate to what client needs.
