Supplements Instead
I know there are a plethora of posts in this thread about glp-1's and from both spectrums, the deciding factor is that they're a miracle for this disorder or that they should be strayed from. I'm posting this in hopes of some opinions on potential supplements or other non medicine changes that have improved symptoms. I am in between insurances and awaiting therapy, and just got established with a primary care with financial assistance! I have struggled with restriction and bingeing since I was 15. I've worked out in therapy in the last 5 years the whys. I know it stems from having food scarcity when I was little to then having an increase in my family's income where we had an array of junk food items at all times in large, complex amounts. I am starting to see the way this disorder has been taking light from me in that I don't enjoy my hobbies like I used to. This is not okay and I want to live life to the fullest. My close circle are all on a glp-1 for food noise, and they are very open about how it's helping drastically for them. It's affecting me even more now that my friends will talk about not wanting to eat until past 7pm, and are always talking about their food intake when we spend time together. I don't want to think about food so much like this, and I want to enjoy time with my friends and family. I want to enjoy weight lifting again and without seeing it as an antecedent to an award. I'm just tired of the nature of all of this. I know this is mostly a venting post and I understand it's probably not what a majority of people want to read, but for anyone experiencing the same things just know you're not alone in it. This spotlight on weight does affect close relationships and I'm definitely feeling it. It's been hard to want to spend time with friends because of this matter, and I don't know if 10 years of struggle is worth trying this medicine or not (a glp-1). Is anyone improving their symptoms aside from CBT or a glp-1? Cognitive behavioral therapy helped me so much but I reached a plateau in understanding how to control it. Are there any supplements that have been found to help calm food noise for anyone? I have only been able to find information on Berberine but I have read some researched showing lowered blood pressure and mine is on the low end so that worries me to take.
