Questions about a potential exposure.

I have read the FAQ.

Hello, I am here to ask some questions about a recent incident with a bat. I need some advice / opinions about my situation because I’m stuck.

Basic info:
Country: US
Date: very early morning on the 15th or 16th of August.
Type of exposure: Bedroom/Unknown.
Creature: Bat
Pets: Yes, but vaccinated and completely separated from the affected area.

My situation:
In the very early morning hours (~3-4am) a couple days ago, a bat flew out of my closet, vaguely in my direction, about 10-15 minutes after turning off the last main light. I ducked under my bed sheets, and ran out of the room after gathering myself. For those wondering, the closet has a small opening to an old fireplace, so it likely entered there. All safe so far, no collisions, the suspected entry area was sealed, and I haven’t found or heard the bat since then.

However, I have no idea how long it had been there. My main concern is if I would’ve noticed it on the previous night, assuming it was there. So far I’ve received 3 different responses on whether or not I should seek care (2 parents, 1 Health department), and am having trouble making a decision as a result of that, significant anxiety, and other factors.

So here are my questions:

  1. For those who have had bedroom exposures, would I notice if it had landed on me the previous night? I noticed this bat was also quite loud (comparable to a mouse that fell of something, but continued to sound much larger than a mouse), so is this something other people have slept though? I consider myself a relatively light sleeper, but I figure it’s worth asking.
  2. I know the FAQ said they’re bad at finding their way out of places, so should I be concerned? There are some holes leading into the subfloor above me that were sealed afterwards, but I haven’t heard or seen anything. I also can’t find any guano, so I’m leaning towards it only being a temporary visitor, but it’s hard to say.
  3. The health department was a bit vague on if I should seek care. Based on the story and the answers to previous questions, should I seek care? The health department basically looped back to where I’m at now: not meeting the guidelines for a full exposure, but not able to conclusively disprove previous exposure based on personal knowledge of bats.

Sorry if there are a lot of dumb questions here, I haven’t slept well the past few nights and I’m quite anxious about the whole thing. Any advice is welcome and appreciated. I can also answer any further questions when I get the chance.

Unsolved FPS loss

EDIT: Messing with razer cortex (settings & ending the process) seems to have done something. In game graphics seem to have reset, so maybe it was something to do with that? The pause menu and the start menu still suck, but they don’t bleed over into the game. Character/inventory menu works normally. My PC also reverted to 4K, so I changed it back to 1440p. Using the windows button still ends any frame loss while the game is tabbed out, so I’ve been using that to help navigate the menu.

Anyways, something I did (besides driver reinstall) seems to have at least made the game playable without a full PC restart. Still looking for extra solutions.

2nd EDIT: Disabling discord overlay (both versions) solved the rest, so start there. definitely would’ve saved me a lot of time XD. Will update if anything happens in the future, but for now this is solved.

3rd: If none of this works, reset graphics to default. Sometimes the game will let you turn them back up, other times it won’t. The next option is probably restarting the PC.

———————————————

Hello, I’ve recently picked up the game and am struggling to figure out a performance issue.

Originally it presented as high FPS loss in free roam and unplayable loss in the menu (single digit FPS, if that). After updating drivers it seems to have mostly solved the menu part, but the free roam is just as bad if not worse.

I had seen people discussing render scale possibly getting corrupted, so I tried messing with that to no avail. The only consistent solution I’ve found is to restart. I think playing windowed may be an option (FPS reverts to normal when I tab out / use the windows key), but that’s also pretty unplayable for me.

I’ve tried adjusting graphics, but this issue seems to be independent of that. Unplayable performance on low settings, but stable 60fps on pretty high settings after a PC restart.

I do occasionally have some odd performance issues on other games, and my PC definitely performs a bit worse than some other builds of similar power, but I’ve never had something like this.

How hard is it to create mods?

Hello, I have an idea that I’d like to mod into the game (or get added by Eugen, which is unlikely). However, there is an issue. I have no previous experience in modding, aside from going into text files of other games to modify specific values.

Naturally, this raises some questions for me.

  1. Is knowledge of a coding language required?
    - If so, how much and at what stage of mod creation?

  2. How could I obtain models for individual units?
    - Is it possible to pull from Wargame RD or other premade sources?

  3. Are there any specific tools I’d need? Or is there any additional info I should know?

  4. And of course, how difficult is the process overall? I know there aren’t too many mods with new divs AND custom assets, so that makes me wonder if this is even realistic for the average user.

(End goal is 2-3 Japanese divs. 1 mech, 1 Recon/inf, maybe 1 full inf)
