Both capstans in both wells start spinning when powered ON and stay that way indefinitely. Is this normal on some decks? I have a Pioneer on which they spin for two seconds on power up and then stop. On another Nakamichi deck they don't spin at all when I turn it on.

All functions work perfectly. Playback is very stable. The amount of noise the spinning makes seems about normal. I can hear it a little from 10 feet away though when idle.
