What is your cassette making work flow?

Hi all, I'm curious what your workflow for recording your own cassettes is!

Like do you have special equipment, obsess over certain tech specs or anything?

Let me know.

I was very fortunate today.

I've been collecting for a few years now, and only get my cassettes from thrift stores or garage sales. I've seen a lot of country and gospel. I've never seen anything like this. I think someone may have passed away, but I'm going to take care of this collection.

Seeing these kinds of things in drive bars…

…almost makes me wish my body hadn’t quit drinking. It also explains why I trained my hands for doom playlists rather than combo breakers 😅

Cassette won’t play from left to right, but works perfectly only in reverse

Hi, please see the video, I don’t know what to do and îm new to this stuff… with every cassette this happens.

Both rubber wheels spins correctly tho, or it seems likee it.

Fast forward and rewind works too, it’s only in normal play mode I have this issue.

The issue is on both decks… tho the left one doesn’t have reverse mode…

Teac R-606X Making Noise - Help Please

I received this deck from my dad some time ago, and it worked great last time I used it, which was several years ago. It was stored in a house owned by a family member and I just picked it up. Only thing I did was swab the inside with 91% alcohol.

For some reason it’s making this noise and the timer seems sped up. Not sure what to look for other than opening it up and seeing if something looks wrong, but looking to get some leads here as I’m unfamiliar with maintenance on these.

Recent find from a London record store

Bought this purely based on the cover's vibes, glad I did. It sounds good, but the audio feels a little "faded", at least compared to some other cassettes in my collection.

110 Dollars for a Technics Tapedeck and Amplifier?

This is the photo from the seller. I was looking for an amplifier when I found this. A decent looking amp and a cassette deck. I already have a technics RS-M260 and the deck on the image doesn’t have any good features but I’m thinking of buying the amp and deck. Should I?

the only problem I see in this amplifier and deck is that the silver doesn’t match my black hifi.

Let’s give some love to some great underground tape labels. Who are your favorites?

They’re pretty much in it for the love of the game. They’re small operations, profit margins are thin, they work hard on great design work, and they don’t charge a lot.

WIP: I chiseled a boombox from a block of (aerated) concrete.

WIP. My first attempt at making a boom box sculpture. It's white aerated concrete that I gave a coat of black

spray paint. So all the lines I chisel become white again.

It's a bit crude, but I like how it looks like a 3 dimensional sketch.I expected the material to be more "detailfriendly" but it breaks away quite easily. Let me know what you think .. and what boomboxes would deserve to be turned into stone sculptures? Any iconic favourites?

Sanyo MG-7 cassette player help

Hey guys! I recently purchased this player off of ebay and there were a couple issues that I found. I bought this knowing it was going to be a fixer upper and figured it shouldn't be too hard. I replaced the belts, cleaned the corrosion off of the curcuit board with isopropyl alcohol, and tweaked the play speed for like an hour to get the perfect sound. All that's left to do is fix the left sound output. When I wear headphones, it is completely silent on the left side. The sound only plays on both ears if I put the jack in halfway. I am having trouble finding the right youtube tutorial for my model and would appreciate any help I can get. Because of the way the player is built, I can only truly examine the underside of the circuit board of I disconnect some wires which I'm trying to avoid. I do have a soldering kit but I would like to hold off until I know for sure what I need to do.
