I. Love. This. Tapedeck. Sorry, this is my second post here today, but I'm quite excited I came across this subreddit.
I was gonna say, if you ever come across the RS-BX 501 at a good price in good condition, go get it. It sounds great and it's very reliable - among all my tapedecks it's the one I most use.
Well, there are a lot of good arguments against auto reverse decks, but this one (I bought it in an excellent condition quite some years ago) runs like clockwork, just like the good old Technics 1210. It's just a pity that the 1210 has been reintroduced while the RS-BX 501 will never be ... which is no wonder, as tape decks are way more complex than turntables.
P.S.: No kidding about my MD player :)

Hello all,
As winter approaches, it is time to repair our wood stove, and although I consider myself a competent DIY person, I have zero experience with wood stoves and so would appreciate any advice.
We bought this house 5 years ago with this wood stove in it. Previous owners hardly used it. The only label on it is in the last photo.
We’ve enjoyed it every winter, and the only maintenance I did was to clean the flue with a long sectional pole and a rotating fiber brush connected to a cordless drill after every winter.
Near the end of last winter, we started noticing a bit of smoke entering the house, and I found that the rope seal around the door was burnt down near the handle so I replaced it together with the glass seal.
I also cleaned the flue once again, but that didn’t help the smoke, and soon it got too bad to use.
At one point the whole living room filled up with smoke that I had to carry out the burning logs and throw them in the snow. We haven’t used it since.
I checked the flue again and it is not blocked.
I went down to the crawl space to check the intake vent (?) and found out that whoever installed the stove, did it right on top of a structural beam 🤦 so they couldn’t vent the full 6” diameter, and it has less than 4” opening.
However, it is not blocked either as far as I can tell, and it isn’t the cause of the issue since it worked fine for 5 years.
My questions are:
What else can disrupt the airflow and cause smoke to leak into the house?
I assume there are some internal air passages under the slanted metal profiles inside the stove - can those get blocked? If so, how do I get in there to clean it?
I’m going to need to replace the shingles on the roof around the flue exit due to a small unrelated (?) leak.
I could use that opportunity when the roof is open to winch up the stove if necessary, I don’t see a way to lift the stove without dismantling the flue.
Am I wrong? Is it even necessary to lift the stove, and how is it usually done?

update 8/21: spoke with an eBay customer service rep this afternoon after, as expected, no one called back. She escalated my case to what she referred to as the “back office” and promised to reach back out to me next week with an update. I’ll update this post when I hear back.

l've been an eBay buyer and seller for 21 years with tens of thousands of transactions and 1,500 recent flawless feedback.
I recently got hit with a blatant parts-swap scam, and eBay support completely failed me.
I sold a mint condition Whistler police scanner for ~$600. It was in as new condition as the day I bought it in the box, and I tested it to work perfectly before shipping.
Within 6 hours of delivery, the buyer opened a "not working" return. Suspiciously, he claimed to be an electronics tech and specifically named a faulty RF module.
eBay forced me to accept the return.
I videoed the unboxing and the tampering was undeniable. The outer screws were badly stripped.
Inside, the RF module had clearly been swapped - there was sloppy new solder and a botched attempt to hide it with resin coat as new solder is much more shiny than the factory one.
He clearly bought mine just to harvest the expensive part to fix another unit.

I contacted support and was told I was protected.
Hours later, eBay declined my claim and forced a full refund.
I appealed with clear photographic evidence of the tampering and a YouTube link to the unboxing video. eBay denied the appeal and charged my card anyway.
According to YouTube analytics, they never even clicked the video link.
I called back, demanded an escalation, and was promised a supervisor call within 24-48 hours. It has been 40 hours. I highly doubt they will call.

If the supervisor doesn't call or refuse to help, l am done with eBay. I am considering a bank chargeback, and I know will get my account permanently banned, which I don't mind as I'll never sell there again.
I do want to explore other options, if possible, which is where you can help.
I am planning to file an IC3 Internet Crime Complaint, a local police report, and a USPS Mail Fraud report for the stolen property.
Has anyone successfully used an IC3 or police report to get eBay to reverse an appeal decision on a parts-swap? Is it a waste of time?
How should I present the police report to eBay support to get them to actually read it?
And if I do end up filing a credit card chargeback, what are the actual implications and potential consequences ?
Has anyone here have any success with it?
Any advice from sellers who have fought this would be greatly appreciated!
