Does False Orders oracle text check block restrictions?
I asked some for clarification on how [[False Orders]] works in Mtgrules, and dont know if I agree with the answer I got.
They said blocking restrictions don’t apply and that you can literally have a creature block a creature that isn’t even attacking the controller of the targeted creature.
is this true?
==============================
False Orders can target any "creature defending player controls", even if that creature is neither attacking nor blocking (C.R. 115.1a). And, when it resolves, after the creature is removed from combat, "you" may have the creature block "an attacking creature of your choice", no matter who controls the attacker or what it's attacking. Note that C.R. 509.1b-c apply only to the process of declaring blockers under C.R. 509.1. It doesn't apply in other cases. And C.R. 509.4b, relating to creatures that enter the battlefield blocking, doesn't apply to False Orders. See also: https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgrules/comments/1op7f3g/what_does_false_orders_not_do/
