Considering UX/UI After BCS Graduation, What’s the Reality of UX/UI Careers?

Hi everyone, I made a post here asking for career guidance after graduating with a BCS degree in India. I got many thoughtful replies, and a lot of people suggested exploring UX/UI design. After reading your advice and researching more, I’ve decided to seriously explore UX/UI as a career path because it seems to combine creativity, problem-solving, communication, and tech in a way that genuinely interests me.

But before fully committing to it, I still have some important questions and would really appreciate honest insights from people already working in the field, especially in India.

  • What’s the reality of the UX/UI job market in India right now?
  • Are opportunities becoming harder for beginners and junior designers? Or Will junior designers struggle more because of AI?
  • Is UX/UI still a safe career to invest time in?
  • If someone focuses deeply on user experience, research, psychology, and problem-solving instead of only making screens look good, does that make the career more secure long-term?
  • What do you think the future of UX/UI will look like in the next 5–10 years?
  • Will AI mainly replace repetitive UI work, or do you think it could heavily affect the whole field?
  • What is the salary reality for UX/UI design jobs in India?
  • If you were starting your career today from scratch, would you still choose UX/UI, or something else?
  • Or are there better creative career paths I should consider?

I’d truly appreciate hearing your honest experiences and advice. Your insights and experiences would genuinely help me a lot.

Thank you again to everyone who helped on my previous post.

Exploring UX/UI, Could This Be the Right Career Path?

Hi everyone, I genuinely need some career guidance and would really appreciate your advice.

I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science (BCS) degree in India and I’ve been struggling to figure out the right career path for myself. Over time, I realized coding isn’t something I truly enjoy, and I’m much more drawn toward creative work. With AI growing so fast, it’s becoming even more confusing to decide which career path is worth pursuing.

Recently, I started exploring UX/UI design and it feels like something I might enjoy. But at the same time, I’m confused and a bit scared about choosing it. I understand UX/UI isn’t just about making screens look good, it's more about understanding users and improving their experience, which feels like something AI can’t fully replace. Still, with AI tools creating designs so quickly, I keep wondering:

  • Will there be fewer opportunities for beginners?
  • Is it still a safe career to invest time in?
  • Also, if someone focuses deeply on user experience and problem-solving, does that make the career more secure long-term?
  • What’s the Reality of UX/UI Careers in India Right Now?

I’d really appreciate honest advice:

  • What does the future of this field look like in the next 5–10 years?
  • Will junior designers struggle more because of AI?
  • What is the salary reality for UX/UI design jobs in India?
  • If you were starting today, would you still choose UX/UI, or something else?
  • Or are there better creative career paths I should consider?

Your advice would mean a lot as I make this crucial decision. Thank you for your time.
