Struggling not to take comments about my child personally. How do other parents handle this?
I get pretty sensitive when people make negative comments about my child, even when I know they probably don’t mean anything bad by it.
Sometimes I find myself overthinking or replaying what was said, and it can make me feel defensive or upset even if it was likely just an offhand remark.
I’m trying to figure out how other parents handle this. How do you decide when to let comments slide versus when to speak up? And how do you stop yourself from taking things about your child so personally?
I want to be protective, but I also don’t want to feel emotionally reactive to every little comment.
Would really appreciate hearing how others deal with this.
