WIBTAH if I said no to my roommate’s friend staying at our apartment?
I (F25, American) am living in France with my roommate (F23, German). We are both leaving at the end of May, but she is leaving the 22nd and I the 31st. I have been in this apartment the past 3 years with a new roommate every year (it’s a student apartment so people come and go with studies). My current roommate has only been on the lease since March 1st, so we’ve only known each other since the end of February when she visited the apartment. She’s very nice and we do things together, but we aren’t close besties.
She texted me earlier today asking I would be okay if her friend could stay in her room the last week of May, after she would have already moved out. Apparently her friend’s landlord is forcing her to leave her apartment early, so my roommate offered for her friend to stay in her room until our lease is up. I would still be in the apartment but her friend would live there too.
However, I don’t know this friend and never met her. I instantly didn’t feel comfortable with the idea of a “random” (random to me) person staying in our apartment, especially since my roommate wouldn’t be there to host her. Also, I am actively preparing to move out and cleaning up the apartment.
I feel bad because it is a free room that’s not being used, but I feel like I’m not obligated to be okay with this situation. My roommate has had people stay with her before, so if she would be there I wouldn’t mind her having her friend stay. I feel bad but I don’t really want her friend to stay. I feel conflicted and would like your opinions!
Side note - I’m going on a 5 day trip to Munich the 23rd-27th. I was thinking maybe it would be okay her friend stay then since the apartment would be free, but again I don’t know this person and I don’t know if they would steal something from my room or break something in the apartment (we are moving out so our landlord is going to inspect it soon!).
TLDR - my roommate asked if I would be okay if her friend who I never met/don’t know lives in our apartment the last week of May AFTER my roommate already moves out. WIBTAH if I say no?
