Mucus Mania

Mucus Mania

Need some advice!

For the record, I have been in close touch with our exotic vet regarding this potential issue, but I wanted to see if there was anyone else out there experiencing this. My guy Wickett has had ONE nostril that is consistently having white mucus/boogers for about 3 months. Not enough to notice it on his paws from wiping his nose. But enough to hear him have sneezing fits at least daily. His mucus is white and a a little thick, like a genuine booger.

My vet has checked him multiple times for ear infections, respiratory infections, even teeth examinations. Nothing is out of the ordinary she says, and the mucus seems “normal”. I’ve changed hay types. We went from the same brand of orchard hay that I’ve had for over a year, to Timothy hay ‘wafer cut’. This seems to have him sneezing less frequently. The bedding was changed to paper pellets, and I have an air purifier on high running.

His mate, a holland lop gal, who he adores, but sheds A LOT. So much that I vacuum every other day. She isn’t exhibiting any of these symptoms, it’s only Wickett. Wickett did have some dental issues a year ago that we had monitored at the vet and worked on, but his teeth are in perfect condition and have been long before these sneezing fits started. He’s a young bun. And I just want to make sure he’s happy and healthy, but I’m not too convinced that anything is helping him. He just ended a 2 week round of antibiotics a week ago, and still, the boogers persist. He still is acting like his normal spunky self. Still eats perfectly fine.

I’m posting a picture of a bun’s nose I found online to show the boogers. I never am able to capture a picture of his boogies since he always requires two hands to wrangle him.
