Looking for a holland Lop in CA

Hi! We're a family of three myself, my 15 year old daughter, and my 20-year-old son. We've been hoping to adopt a rabbit for about two years and have spent the past several months researching rabbit care, including diet, housing, enrichment, grooming, and everything needed to give a rabbit a happy and healthy life. We finally feel ready for the commitment. . We're specifically looking for a neutered male, preferably a Holland Lop, Thank you so much!

took in these rabbits

So I found my brother got these rabbits and wasn’t caring for them humanly at all. So I took them and am trying to do my best. I’ve only had them for 2 days. How is my set up so far? Any tips?

Breed help?

I rescued this bun from a meat rabbit place a couple of years ago, and I've always wondered about his breed/s. I didn't know if any of you might know possible breeds he could be.

He has what I believe to be Harlequin-type markings on his chin and behind his ears, and a darker patch of fur on his face

Any advice on litter training an older rabbit?

I’ve had my rabbit for a while but I’ve only just moved him into and indoor enclosure so he’s not at all litter trained but I’ve been moving his poos and stuff into his litter box as well as putting his food bowl and some hay in there and he’s spending lots of time in there just loafing, is this a good sign?

How to keep rabbits safe in high temperatures?

*PLEASE DONT BE AFRAID TO LEAVE SUGGESTIONS, THEY WILL BE TAKEN!!!*

My rabbit has been living perfectly healthy in my shed for sometime now, and I’m unable to bring her inside due to everyone in my house being wildly allergic. But in recent years weather has become much more extreme, and I’ve tried fans and cooling mats for my bun but I need to take more extreme measures.

She lives in the shed and it’s not in my budget to install proper insulation. Anyone have DIY projects or items I can buy to make the shed more hospitable? A place where she’ll enjoy and play and have fun? Anything helps.

General rescue bun advice & breed id?

I got a rescue bunny about a week ago.
No clue on breed, I was told he has some dark patches and gets darker in winter if that helps?
I convinced an old coworker to give him to me, along with my parents, because his living conditions were absolutely horrid. He does have a hutch but it’s open 24/7, at first it was to free roam my room, but until he’s neutered (9 days til he’s going to the vet) I put him in the hutch attached to a pen for roaming. And I really just wanna ask for a general checkup. He seems to prefer his hutch even if it’s constantly open but he’s used to being in basically a box. I was told he was 1, maybe 2 and unknown gender but they think he’s a boy. I don’t want to put him in his back to see though, I know it can stress them. I’m unable to get another bunny, at least for the summer and probably the whole year. Seeming as how he isn’t neutered, isn’t potty trained, never has been around anything other than a cat and was just in a box in a closet for most of his life I’m not too worried about it. It’s definitely out of the picture as of now, but worst case scenario until I move out (I’m 17).

But I do worry that I’m not doing everything right. I’ve given him some veggies, but I don’t see him eat hay often. I don’t want to make him ‘not like’ me or be scared of me when I pick him up or let him either. However, I like taking my animals outside. To avoid this I bought him a stroller that I can put ice packs in, despite how dumb it may sound.

I’m really not sure what I can do better, or how to bond with him. I’m studying to be an exotic vet but I honestly didn’t know much about bunnies beyond stuff like the meat industry, which I don’t support, and farming. I did a lot of quick research so I’m scared I could’ve gotten something wrong.

I’ve never posted in Reddit or used it, sorry if this isn’t formed well. Honestly didn’t know how to use this app but wanted advice

bunny keeps jerking his head repetitively :(

Hi everyone, I’m currently pet sitting a bunny and I’m very worried about him.

Maybe half an hour ago he started making quick, repetitive jerking/shaking movements with his head toward the left every few seconds. It lasted for a little while and then stopped. Right now he’s lying on his belly, he’s eating, and he seems alert, but he still looks shaky, which concerns me. This behavior is completely new as far as I know. Every few minutes he kind of jerks a little, and I’m really worried.

Right now his owners are in another country so they can’t respond since they’re in a different time zone. Would you consider this an emergency vet visit, or is it reasonable to monitor him overnight if he’s still eating and acting otherwise okay? I’ve attached a video; this was more mild but there were other more concerning instances.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Rabbits Eating Clover 6b

I’ve noticed an uptick in rabbits in my yard that has a lot of clover (both white and micro) mixed with grass. Anyone else have rabbits eating your clover? Are rabbits attracted to it?

Re-housing pet rabbit

We have an adult holland lop in Oregon that we are looking to find a new home for. Basically we are a dog family and rabbits are more like cats; stubborn, mischievous, and vaguely entitled. She charges at our six year old, for example, and slams the floor at night with her food bowl. And don’t get me started on the pooping-anywhere-I-want attitude…

DM if you’re interested. She comes with several kennels, two toilets, water bottle, all the essentials.

I need some help as a new bunny owner. i’m very concerned

I went on a trip back home and on the way back to where I currently live me and my boyfriend adopted a bunny from somebody that had him for I think about a year. Ever since we got him, he has not wanted to eat any veggies no matter what kind I give them or what time of day I give it to him, but he is consistent in eating treats, chew toys, hay, and pellets. I’m not sure why he doesn’t eat the veggies and if anybody has any answers on that, if you can, please let me know. He also is a free room and I have him in a c&c grid cage that I leave open 24/7 and the first few days I kind of just let him settle in and I didn’t really do much touching or petting or anything just so he can get adjusted to the new environment because the previous owner did say that he was very shy and likes to keep to himself but now I’ve had him for almost a month and he still does not really like to be pet and he runs away very quickly, even if I’m being slow, in his line of sight or if I’m doing hand feeding he still likes to try and take the food away and go eat in the corner and I’m not sure why he does it. He is a solo male and that’s how we got him, but I’m not sure if he also needs a friend or anything because we do have other animals like guinea pigs and cats that I thought maybe he could try and bond with a little bit, but he doesn’t even like to leave his cage and wander around our bedroom. He’ll just sit in his cage all day, but he will dig at the floor and not even sleep on his bedding, but sleep directly on the floor that I have in there for him. I’m not sure what’s wrong with him and if this is just his personality or if I’m doing something wrong, but I’m worried about him and I’m not sure if he needs a friend or if I’m doing something wrong and I need to make some changes if anybody could please let me know. also a couple sidenote is the girl that we did get him from. He was severely matted so I had to try and de-matt him the best that I could, which meant that I did have to cut off a lot of hair, he wasn’t able to see anything at all, and I had to cut all the hair around his face, and his nails were overgrown. He has a bunch of pee and poop around his bottom that I had to clean off (including staining), so I’m not sure if he just has trauma from his previous household also but I have been trying to slowly do a lot of maintenance on him because he isn’t fully comfortable with me yet so I’ve been trying to take it slow

Bump on Bunnies Face

Our bunny developed a lump on its face over the last few days. Hasn’t grown or shrunk since we discovered it. Any ideas of what it could be?

Hunger striking pellets

Hoping for some help.. Daisy (pictured) is a 2.5 year old spayed Lionhead/English Spot mix. (She is not our first rabbit.) Our previous rabbit was only interested in pellets, so Daisy also primarily has pellets.

But over the last year, she's been deeming her pellets unacceptable, no matter what brand. We've been through 3 different Oxbow options. I would love for her to eat the Oxbow adult (or even young) rabbit food but recently she was only ok with the Kaytee Forti-Diet. She has an abundance of new (and floor) hay. She loves cardboard. She has a daily Oxbow vitamin and digestive.

And now she has given up on the Forti-Diet. We're currently trying to get her to eat more hay while we search for yet another acceptable pellet brand. She's moving around just fine, chewing on things, and pooping fine.

What is going on with her and her choice of pellets?

Mucus Mania

Need some advice!

For the record, I have been in close touch with our exotic vet regarding this potential issue, but I wanted to see if there was anyone else out there experiencing this. My guy Wickett has had ONE nostril that is consistently having white mucus/boogers for about 3 months. Not enough to notice it on his paws from wiping his nose. But enough to hear him have sneezing fits at least daily. His mucus is white and a a little thick, like a genuine booger.

My vet has checked him multiple times for ear infections, respiratory infections, even teeth examinations. Nothing is out of the ordinary she says, and the mucus seems “normal”. I’ve changed hay types. We went from the same brand of orchard hay that I’ve had for over a year, to Timothy hay ‘wafer cut’. This seems to have him sneezing less frequently. The bedding was changed to paper pellets, and I have an air purifier on high running.

His mate, a holland lop gal, who he adores, but sheds A LOT. So much that I vacuum every other day. She isn’t exhibiting any of these symptoms, it’s only Wickett. Wickett did have some dental issues a year ago that we had monitored at the vet and worked on, but his teeth are in perfect condition and have been long before these sneezing fits started. He’s a young bun. And I just want to make sure he’s happy and healthy, but I’m not too convinced that anything is helping him. He just ended a 2 week round of antibiotics a week ago, and still, the boogers persist. He still is acting like his normal spunky self. Still eats perfectly fine.

I’m posting a picture of a bun’s nose I found online to show the boogers. I never am able to capture a picture of his boogies since he always requires two hands to wrangle him.

Current bunny enclosure vs old

My bunnies don’t free roam (please don’t police me) they have a large enclosure and I’m planning
To add two more panels for even more space! But I’m proud of my progress! Any suggestions that are kind?

We don’t free roam because I have four rowdy kids/toddlers and a senior dog….truly there has been time I forget to close the door and the bunnies prefer to stay in their space. It’s currently 46sq ft and looking to add another 10.

Can my bunnies still get along?

So I’ve owned my bunny for about 3 years now and she came from a bonded group of 4 female bunnies, and I realized that she needed a friend now. We had a boy bunny that she was fine with, but he passed away shortly after we got her. So my brother got this new bunny yesterday so my bunny had a friend. They’re both female and my bunny is not fixed, but the new bunny was just recently fixed. We didn’t know that we weren’t supposed to let them nip at each other, which they were doing last night when they first met. So this evening, I’m brushing them and see that my brother’s bunny has a big chunk of fur missing from her back. He rescued her, do we need to take her back to the shelter, because we cannot house two separate bunnies? To be honest, they’ve spent the entire day kind of avoiding each other in the same room. Is there a chance that these two can become close?

Bit by our new pet bunny, broke skin, should I be concerned?

We bought a new pet bunny rabbit a month ago. I was trying to put him in his new cage. I lifted him and he bit my finger pretty hard and wouldn't let go. I was literally shaking him off my finger. Skin was punctured and it did bleed a little.

Never been bit by any of our rabbits ever before. Should I be concerned about infections with pet bunny rabbits? I did clean it with water and hydrogen peroxide. Only shit I'm ever concerned with is amputations from an infectious animal bite, lol.

Need advice finding a good home for two rabbits (KSA)

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice.

I have two male rabbits, around 3 months old. They originally belonged to a friend of my brother, who left them with us while he was traveling. When he returned, he decided he no longer wanted them, so I’ve been caring for them ever since and trying to find them a good home.

They’ll come with everything they need, including their cage, food and water bowls, toys, treats, and food from Oxbow.

A while back, I found someone who seemed genuinely interested in adopting them, but they were returned to me just a week later in poor condition. I took them to the vet immediately to make sure they were okay and received any treatment they needed. Thankfully, they’re doing well now, but the experience left me very cautious about who I trust them with.

My dad wants them out of the house, so I do need to find them a home soon. At the same time, I don’t want to rush into giving them to the wrong person and risk them being neglected or mistreated again.

I’m posting here because I’m running out of options and hoping I might get lucky. I live in Saudi Arabia (KSA), so if anyone here is also based in KSA and knows a trustworthy rabbit owner, rescue, or someone experienced with rabbits who might be interested in adopting them, I would really appreciate any leads.

Thank you. ❤️🐰🐰

HELP! Kits dying with unknown cause (plus kit with cyclopia)

This is our magpie rex’s second litter, she had 7 very big and healthy kits in her first, unfortunately all of them passed due to what we expected was accidental crushing. (now I'm not so sure) In both cases she made her nest early and pulled plenty of fur, the only difference with this litter is that she is much more relaxed and doesn't bolt to her kits and jump inside the nestbox to check on them constantly.

She had six kits in this litter, one was stillborn and outside the nest (we assume she pulled it out). The stillborn was deformed with cyclopia which evidently is most likely due to the parents both sharing a recessive gene.

The smallest had bloody stool the first day, the second 3 out of 5 had passed. The smallest looks bloated but not the other two. The most notable trait is that the tips of all the dead kits tongues have been dried and red. The mother is on the grass, the nestbox material is straw, the area is VA so there's no record of RHD here. I even removed some of her fur from the box in case of overheating.

bunny help needed!

yesterday my bunny was diagnosed with GI stasis, he is my first bunny so I’m very concerned! I wasn’t able to get his pain meds or critical care treatment started until this morning, but since then he’s been resisting the critical care more and more. he won’t stay in a bunny burrito, he won’t let me put the syringe in the side of his mouth, won’t let me hold his head, he doesn’t like being held and even when I am able he keeps turning his head and resisting. I was able to get 45ml in him so far today, I have 2 more feedings left. he stays in his playpen but he won’t eat or drink anything out of there either. if there is any tips or tricks I haven’t tried yet, let me know please!! thank you in advance 🫶🫶

(also since this is my first bunny that’s fairly new I would love some feedback! thank you!!)
