Questions about The Crown of Leaves for the Romani people.
Please educate me. Apologies in advance, either due to langue, culture or just ignorance, my wording will offend or put some or all off.
MY Background: American, white, milk-toast, pumpkin spice drinker. Ignorant. Asking questions. A TCoL enjoy-er.
So far, as far as I know, the TCoL has a Romani in the team? I could be wrong. It is heavily inspired, the clothes, the colors, the langue (I think), Vardos. It is beautiful, the art is beautiful. As far as I know its romanticized heavily in my opinion. Of course it is inspired by more than just Romani.
>>> To cut to the chaise, is liking it, be inspired by it, using the words/langue, wanting to make fan art inspired by TCoL, offensive?
To my understanding, please correct me if I am wrong. the Romani people have had it Rough, capital R Rough throughout history and romanticizing only selective culture can and is seen as offensive. I really love the setting of TCoL, the mystery, story, characters (Roui, Junyver, Brilla), fictional races. However I wish to be respectful. I only have 1 Romani friend, I admittedly don't know them much, but I wish to not offend, ever.
Thank you for reading, I might delete later after I get my answer(s). I wish everyone who reads this a nice day, week, month, year.
Edit 1: maybe I am looking for some form of validation. However, correction, Romani people still have it Rough today, from the holocaust to avid racism being directed at Romani to this day, as well as hippies, laws specifically targeting Romani, etc. I am sorry to read this from with in this reddit and as I become more informed I might just add more edits. I hope I am following the rules.
