2017 Vauxhall Corsa E 1.4 Energy petrol starts then cuts out, temp gauge shows warm from cold

Hi all, I bought a 2017 Vauxhall Corsa E 1.4 petrol on Sunday.

It drove home fine, including traffic and 70mph roads. Since Monday, it starts from cold but cuts out almost straight away several times before eventually staying running.

It seems more likely to stay running if I hold the clutch down. When I lift the clutch in neutral, it often cuts out. No warning lights. Temp gauge appears to show around 90°C straight away from cold.

It’s Cat N from previous front-end damage. I’ve also noticed a split intake/airbox pipe and a damaged-looking plug/wiring in the engine bay.

Getting it diagnosed, but has anyone had similar or know what to check first?

Hey guys

This is turning into way too much hassle for a basic oil change, so I’m hoping someone who actually works on these can give me a straight answer.

Car details (what I KNOW it is):

2015 Vauxhall Corsa E

1.4 Turbo petrol

SRi VX‑Line

Facelift, UK‑spec

99HP

Registered June 2015

Different places are telling me different oils for the same reg: some say 5W‑30 dexos2, others say 5W‑30 dexos1 Gen 2 or Gen 3, and one place even said 0W‑20. A Vauxhall parts desk gave me a spec code but it doesn’t clearly match anything. I just want to know what UK Vauxhall dealers actually use in these engines now. The filter situation is also unclear because my car doesn’t match what most guides online say, so I’ll include a photo. I’m not trying to make this complicated, I just want the correct oil and the correct filter without relying on conflicting websites. Can any Vauxhall techs or people who service these regularly tell me what they actually use on these cars now?

Any help would be appreciated
