Lever movement after M32 gearbox rebuild?

Hey,I recently had my M32 gearbox rebuilt, and I have driven 1,200 km since then, in 4th and 6th gear, the gear lever moves about 1 cm. Is this normal after a gearbox rebuild? What cause this?

All the bearings were replaced during the rebuild, and the gearbox was filled with 3 liters of oil along with a Prolong additive.

Garage told me twice not to worry about my Astra revving itself wild on a cold start… now the check engine light played peekaboo. Help?

My 2006 Vauxhall/Opel Astra H 1.8 automatic revs on its own after a cold start, bouncing between 1,000 and 2,500 rpm for about 90 seconds. After that, it runs perfectly fine. This has been happening for a few months now, mostly during the warmer UK weather. I’ve taken it to the garage twice, had diagnostics run, and both times they said not to worry, apparently, some rev fluctuation on cold starts is normal for an older car, especially between 1,000–2,000 rpm. So I let it go.

But yesterday, after a 30-minute morning drive (with the usual revving), I parked for three hours, then started the car again, no revving this time, since it wasn’t a cold start but the check engine light came on. I stopped after about 5 minutes and called the garage to book it in. When I restarted the car after that call, the light had turned off. Now I’m second-guessing whether I even need the appointment. It’ll cost around £50 for another diagnostic, but without the warning light on, I feel like I’m just going back with the same revving issue they’ve already told me to ignore twice.

Does anyone have any idea what might actually be going on?

TPMS for Astra K

Just looking to get an idea of how much it should cost to get all 4 sensors changed on my Astra K, they have all slowly died off one after the other, I don't have my MOT until March 2027 but aware they will be a fail, is it cheaper to buy them myself and buy a reset tool etc? Only thing is I don't have the equipment yet to separate the tye from the alloys.

Any advice would be appreciated, cheers

2025 Mokka EV Front parking sensors showing wrong sides.

Anyone had this issue? Just bought a year old Mokka Ultimate 50kwh with just 7500 miles on clock. All good except the front parking sensors appear showing wrong way round. A near object on the right appears on left on screen and vice verca. Software or hardware?

In search for a next Corsa/Astra. How many miles is too many?

My good ol and reliable 12 plate 1.4 Corsa D SXI just got rear ended and written off (Total loss). Insurance offered 2.5k for it and I'm happy to take it considering 75k miles on the clock and scuffs & scratches all over the car, since it was my little working pony.

Im happy to add another 2.5k and get either Corsa E or Astra K. Not a mechanic, but confident weekend spanner handler with all the tools and software to mess with GM stuff.

In the current market 5k can get you something decent looking with 70-90k miles on the clock. Is it too much with the full service history? Looking for petrol engine, I do mostly short trips. 1.4 or 1.6 engine.

Also, would you go for Corsa or Astra? Its only two of us in the family, but I do occasionally haul large items, like furniture or building materials. My Corsa had set of Thule racks, I've kept them and hopefully can reinstall on the other car.

First EV - Vauxhall Frontera (extended range)

I finally bought an EV. It was difficult to work out what to get, within our budget, and what would go the distance we wanted on a single charge. We ended up buying a second hand (pre-registered really, only 1k miles) Frontera EV extended range, highest trim (barely cost more than the trim below).

There's a lot of negativity towards Stelantis, especially their older cars. I understand it, but we've got friends who've had an EV Mokka and the Frontera, so we test drove it and decided it was right for us.

What we looked for was:

- Enough range to do our 'normal' trips with one charge (3-5 hours on the mortoway)

- Large boot space than our previous cars (think Corsa, Astra, Mokka for our previous car size)

- Roof rack for transporting my little bike or roofbox/tent in the future.

It was a lot cheaper than buying new and we didn't want to lease for a multitude of reasons. I'm honestly impressed. Here's my 'initial thoughts'

Acceleration

There's a lot of talk about how it's a 'slow' car and doesn't accelerate as fast as other EVs. Frankly this is still better than our old Vauxhall car that was petrol and smaller. I think this is one of those things that people talk about a lot, but in the real world it's been great! Yeah, it's not as nippy going 0-30 or 0-60 as other cars we tested, but it's rare we'd even do that anyway. So overall I'm happy with it.

Range

We sat down and worked out our 'normal' annual journeys, the cost of charging, and the time it may take. It worked out we'd save a lot of money charging at home by having the extended range over the year, meaning it was more cost efficient.

Whilst it is a smaller range car compared to Tesla's and some other cars on the market (which are often nearly double the price of what we paid) we've found that so far on a 3-5 hour journey on the motorway we only need to stop once, which is what we would do anyway on a normal journey and it's charged by the time we've used the facilities and got a drink. So honestly this was a big fear but has proven to be really good! Yeah I'd love to do more with only one charge, but it's honestly not an inconviniance atm.

Trim and Cheapness

There are a lot of reports of people saying this does feel cheap. Yeah, it does. But so did my old car and frankly almost every car I've ever owned. The physical buttons for AC, heated windscreen/mirrors, seats, and steering wheel are great as I can just not look at it and press.

As this is the Ultimate it has a roof bar facility, but we're waiting on these - but it's why we went for the higher trim as I cycle and we want to drive away more. May even do the roof tent thing! Exciting!

The seats are really comfy! Whilst it was a 'novelty' to have the groove for your tailbone, I've never found a car as comfy as this is which is just lush! Really happy with it.

Heating/AC

This doesn't have a heat pump so I know it's not as efficient. Luckily in the winter I tend to be passanger and take a blanket with me even in our old car - so a blanket and heated seats tends to be enough! I'm very excited to try a heated windscreen as I've never had one before! Perfect for the winter!

The A/C does seem pretty good and whilst it does affect range, unsuprisingly, we didn't find it went outside our expectations.

Charging

Charging was SUCH a learning curve. We spoke to someone at our first time charging on the motorway and got told 'oh yeah, sometimes a charge won't work so go to another one' and then the next day had to teach someone else how to charge theres and passed on the knowledge! But now I'm used to it it's so simple! Note to self - make sure the window is shut or it won't charge haha!

Boot Space

The boot space is great! It's not the biggest - it's no Santa Fe! But it's fantastic for our needs. Can get in some landscaping stuff for the garden, some big plants, or just a load of shopping from Costco! The Split Boot is great for keeping charging things and repair/pump things hidden away too, but nice to know we have the extra space if needed.

Mod Cons

This does NOT have all the mod cons! It's quite sparse compared to my parents hybrid for example that they got 2 years ago. They have a HUD, cameras to each side when you indicate, 360 camera, an electric boot and keyless entry.

We on the other hand have Wireless Android Auto (a GODSEND considering the issues we've had in every single car when using a wired version), a rear parking camera, and front/rear sensors, and the wing mirror warning indicators...and that's kinda it.

Keyless entry neither of us wanted - and given some horror stories we were a bit put off by it (and some of the main features in other cars - like my mums having unlock wit hyour phone - are now subscriptions which is rediculous). So this wasn't an issue.

We didn't have parking sensors at all before, so a rear camera and sensors makes us feel like gods. Though in practice we're still only a month in so using our normal mirror and one person getting out to guide methods.

Whilst we don't have the most mod cons, we're content. It's enough - and that's all it needed to be.

Vauxhall App

It's..,surprisingly ok? We heard it was awful, but we can start the climate control (to whatever it was before), check the charge, and the e-Routes map app is suprisingly decent at being able to make sure you can get to your destination with fewest charges but without worrying. I've done multiple 5 hour drives now and it's been fantastic. Again, probably not as good as other manufacturers but it's perfect for us!

___

Overall I'm really happy with this. We tested some 'smaller' cars before - like the Peugeot 2008, Hyandai Kona but wanted something slightly bigger. We've had Vauxhall all our lives, not really by choice often it just sort of happened...and honestly I don't regret this choice. It's not the fanciest car in the world but it's enough for us. Plus we're not scared of it getting a few scratches as it's our car, and we wouldn't have been able to get a nicer car as our 'own.'

Hopefully I'll be writting in a few years about how well it's lasted but wanted to share my thoughts! It was a massive commitment for us but we're so happy to be an EV owner now!

Black lines on car screen

Hey guys, I recently bought a Vauxhall Astra GTC 2015 and it came with this after market car screen. There appears to be black vertical lines on the left side of the screen. I wasn’t sure if this was even fixable or may need replacing? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Outside air temperature sensor.

Anyone able to show me with a video how to replace an outside air temperature sensor on a vauxhall insignia b? I've had a dodgy one for a while and finally managed to get hold of a replacement but I'm not confident enough to just get stuck in.

OPEL FRONTERA HYBRID PROBLEM

Hello, has anyone found a solution to this problem of the new Frontera Hybrid, which seems to afflict many owners? When it's hot, after half an hour of use, you start to hear this noise, which comes and goes, but only when the thermal comes in, never in electric. New car, 200km and you don't know what it is. The Opel workshop... I'll let you imagine.

Vauxhall Astra Sri 2013 1.4L

Videos in the comments of the fault today

I’m looking for advice I bought this car 02/02/2026
And on the way home it shut down and wouldn’t start back up when it did it was in limp mode, it got sent back and it came back fine, they said it was the CAM SENSOR

A month or so later it started struggling to start occasionally and then going in limp mode, after it was sat a while it started back up fine

Then the clutch started to feel off, and maybe 30 mins later it looked like it was in gear but reving like it wasn’t, sometimes the clutch wouldn’t pop back up and others it wouldn’t go down,, I enevtibly broke down and got intouch with the same garage as the warrant they sold me had gone bust which they took it back and fixed it free of charge and said it was the CRAFT SENSOR

It was back and fine until today where it struggled starting then started on its own when I stopped turning the key, then went into limp mode and after I stopped it and tried starting it to see how it would go the engine wouldn’t even try to turn on as if the starter mother was gone. Eventually it started and I was able to get it home

When this happenes my dash says
Service ESP soon
service vehicle soon ( dosent show this everytime )
Engine power is reduced

Since the garage has failed to fix it before I have a right to refuse the car and get my money back minus the miles I’ve used ext. but I feel this is the wrong thing to do

I don’t know wether I should;
Refuse the car and get my money back and get a different car,
Just get it diagnosed and pay for it but I think that it will need so much done,
Or sell it privately and warn the new owners of the fault.

I’ve not been driving very long and my knowledge isn’t great and I’ve been sold such a handful of a car I’m so lost 😭

I have videos of it starting and stopping which it won’t let me add,, it also make a pump (I’m really sorry but I don’t know how else to describe it) sound as it stops now

Longshot Insignia AFL Headlight 2015

Had a slight prang front end in my Insignia Elite Nav Estate, Rad/Bumper all replaced but massively stumped on this light.

AFL/Bixenon fully works but back casing/mounts is done for

Anyone in the UK repair these? Can see in Europe you can buy the housing etc but can only see replacement in the UK.

If I knew these were £500 I would of kicked the car to the scrap man after removing the other one 😂

2010 Opel Corsa D - One key works, the other starts the car but remote locking stopped working

I have a 2009 Opel Corsa D with two original keys.

Key #1 works perfectly:

  • Locks and unlocks remotely
  • Starts the car normally

Key #2:

  • Starts the car normally
  • Can manually unlock the driver's door with the key blade
  • Will not lock or unlock the car using the remote buttons

What we've already tried:

  • Replaced the battery with a new one
  • Verified battery orientation
  • Unlocked the car with the key, switched on the ignition, and attempted the re-synchronisation procedure
  • Started and ran the engine for about a minute
  • Retested the remote afterwards

No change. The remote buttons still do nothing.

Since the car starts normally with this key, I assume the immobiliser transponder is still working, and the issue is limited to the remote locking function.

Has anyone experienced this on a Corsa D? Was it:

  • a failed microswitch/button,
  • a damaged circuit board,
  • a broken battery contact,
  • loss of programming,
  • or something else?

Any common failure points I should inspect before paying for a replacement key or reprogramming?

Thanks.
