Double vision will stay forever?
Today was my pre-op checkup before strabismus surgery.
I've had strabismus since childhood and currently do not experience double vision in my daily life. During today's testing, they used prisms to simulate straighter eye alignment.
The staff told me that if my eyes were made perfectly straight, I could end up seeing double. Because of that, the surgeon is apparently planning a partial correction (around 75%) rather than making the eyes completely straight.
I'm feeling conflicted. The reason I'm considering surgery is mainly cosmetic, but I'm worried about the possibility of double vision affecting my daily life after surgery.
Has anyone here had a similar experience where prism testing caused double vision before surgery? If so, what happened after your surgery? Did your brain adapt, or did you continue to experience double vision?
I'd really appreciate hearing from others who were in a similar situation.
