Although we were warned that Gracie would cry and whine most of the evening and for the next two nights, we found that after some gabapentin before bed, she slept like an angel. She did cry and whine after we got home from the hospital and she refused food and water. That concerned me until she started begging for some baked sweet potato and brie cheese! Of course I gave it to her! It seemed painful for her to move much so I had to be very careful how I picked her up to take her outside and to get her upstairs to bed.

She is now back asleep on her favorite ottoman (we call it her tuffet!) and she will have more pain meds this morning in about an hour.

My heart is overflowing with gratitude for the supportive and kind messages from this community. I also am keeping little Luna 🐾 in my thoughts today as she goes through the same experience.

Gracie is out of surgery and resting comfortably! She’s not given the vet any problems — she’s so sweet tempered.

She wasn’t freaked out at the vet — just curious! She cuddled with Daddy and checked out all the goings on outside the exam room!

I’ll post again after we get her home. It’ll be several hours yet. Thank you for all the good thoughts! 💜🐾

Gracie Alouette gets the love lights turned out tomorrow. I’m not going to breed her so it’s a good thing to do, but I’m so sad to have to put her through it. I bought her a little « recovery onesie » to avoid the cone. She models it in the second pic.

Gracie von Lacy loves to do her tricks for treats. I need to expand the repertoire a bit but she’s only 9.5 months old, so she’s coming along.
