Stopover to Australia (with 6mo) - fly and flop FAT hotel

We’re going to a wedding in Australia in March (from London) and will have a 6 month old at the time. Given it’s such a long journey, we want to tack a hotel holiday onto the way back, ideally using an extended layover option. Aim for the holiday would be pure relaxation somewhere nice and FAT! Not fussed about exploring this time.

Annoyingly, the easiest locations to stop over/extend layover feel like places we’d least like to spend time (Dubai, Singapore, Doha etc).

Would really love some advice:

  1. Have you found a FAT, relaxing beachy type hotel in any of these easy stopover locations? We don’t really need to know where we are, we just want a full relax!
  2. Any other suggestions for easy stopover locations? Phuket looked promising but jetstar is the only direct option from Sydney, which I don’t think will be the best experience (and no lie flat beds)
  3. Any tips for travelling with a 6 month old? We’ll fly business. Is there drama around getting bassinet seats? Open to any and all advice both on the flight and hotel!

Thanks in advance!

Travelling 24+ hours with a 6 month old

We need to travel from London to Australia in March and are due a baby at the end of this month. We plan to fly business to make it as bearable as possible and are hoping to do a few day layover on the way back from the trip to get more of a holiday out of it (we’d only be in Aus for a few days for a wedding).

Would really love some advice on a few things:

  1. Is it worth adding a stopover on the way there, even just for 24 hours to adjust to the time zone? Or will that just drag it all out and should we just do london to Sydney all in one go?
  2. We’d like to stop somewhere on the way back where we can get a fully relaxing holiday - we were thinking Phuket but would love suggestions if anyone has any, particularly for airlines that allow you to stay for a longer layover
  3. Is there anything we should know about travelling that far with a 6 month old? I’m terrified 😂
  4. What’s the situation with bassinet seats? I’ve heard them mentioned and that you can’t guarantee?

Thank you so so much in advance!
