Hey all

I’ve been making a start in bird photography over the last few months using a borrowed Canon EOS 700D while I learnt the ropes, with an EF 55-250 STM lens. Now that I’m a bit more experienced, I’m finding the 700D to be really limiting in low light, and the 55-250 to be limiting for reach.

I’ve upgraded the body to the EOS R7, and have been looking at the RF 100-400mm, but am concerned that the aperture at the zoom end might hold me back slightly. Are there any other lens recommendations worth considering? Lens budget approx £1000 and looking for a maximum focal length of 400mm at least, happy with new or used, and Canon or third party.
