2006 Opel Corsa D 1.2L - ABS Code C0035 after Control Arm & Spring Replacement (Wiring/Sensor troubleshooting)

Hi everyone,

first of all, this was summaryzed and made readable by Gemini.

I am fighting a persistent ABS issue on a 2006 Opel Corsa D with the 1.2L engine.

The Backstory:

The car recently had its front lower control arms (wishbones) and front coil springs replaced. The ABS sensor itself was not touched or removed from the steering knuckle during the repair. Like a week after putting everything back together and driving, the ABS, ESP lights came on.

The Code:

  • C0035 - Wheel Speed Sensor Front Left Circuit Malfunction.

What I have tested/done so far:

  1. Wiring Check (Car side): I removed the factory connector near the wheel well to test the harness (was broken anyways). With the ignition ON, the car side (Wire to Wire / Wire to neagtive battery) reads around 12.8mV to 16mV DC on both the working passenger side and the faulty driver side.
  2. Sensor Resistance Check: I measured the resistance directly on the two wires coming out of the old front-left ABS sensor (unplugged from the harness). The multimeter is reading between 300 Mega-Ohms and 1000 Mega-Ohms.

I am picking up a brand new replacement ABS sensor today in the afternoon.

My questions for the mechanics here:

  • Does that extreme resistance reading confirm a dead sensor, or is there something else I am missing about these sensors?
  • If the new sensor does not fix the C0035 code today, what else could have been damaged during a control arm/spring swap? The wheel bearing/magnetic ring wasn't separated or removed, and the axle wasn't pulled out of the hub.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Edit:

My plan is to cut the new ABS sensor and connect the wires directly together because the old plug was broken and I somehow cannot get a new one. I found some wiring diagrams that say that the connection of the wires should be like
Car (white/blue) <--> ABS Sensor White
Car (black/blue) <--> ABS Sensor Gray/Black

Is there something i can destroy when i connect it the wrong way around?
