Neighbor Shot At Me
My neighbor is a pyromaniac. He loves to set large fires 2 or 3 times per week. Last year, he cut down a shed, put it next to my house, and set it on fire. The fire was 50 feet high and completely out of control.
I called 911. The police and fire department came out. The neighbor tried to fight them, and the police realized that they were in the wrong jurisdiction. They called the sheriff who sent out deputies. The deputies told me that the neighbor had been fired from the sheriff’s department. They told me he was going to harass me, and then they left.
After they left, the neighbor and his brother got their guns, stood at the property line, and shot at me and my horses aa I was trying to get them into the barn. I called 911 again. The deputies stopped the shooting but did not arrest the brothers.
When I called the sheriff’s office to find out why they weren’t arrested, they said that the responding deputy would call me back, but the entire incident disappeared. I still have the 911 call though.
The neighbor continues to harass me. He will start shooting whenever he sees me outside. He still sets large fires despite continuously getting in trouble with the fire department and Department of Natural Resources.
I am not sure what to do. I love my house and farm, but I am afraid he will shoot and hit me one day. I consulted with an attorney who recommended continuing to capture and save evidence from my cameras to take to the state attorney general since the sheriff is suppressing the evidence of his activities.
