Phonograph friends, I need help with record wear.

First off, I don’t have a phonograph, I have a 78 jukebox from 37. Though I’m running into record wear issues and figured the folks who use phonographs could have some input.

The juke is wearing records fast, faster than it should (?) After 3 or 4 plays there is visible wear and a pile of dust left on the record. Here is a rundown of the set up:

-New needle with the original crystal cartridge.
-Using era correct records (not soft vinyl or composites)
-Placed a bubble level on the head shell to make sure the needle was plumb.

I’m not sure what weight it’s currently tracking at. I saw the gauges you can buy and place a needle on but they go to about 5 grams only. Has anyone here measured their phonograph? What did you use?

It’s my understanding phonographs occasionally tracked in ounces and if they didn’t obliterate a record then why is mine? I know some wear and dust is typical but this is excessive.

Any input appreciated!
