eBay was going to refund me, then PayPal denied the claim and now I’m stuck
I’m trying to understand whether anyone has experienced something similar.
I purchased a TV on eBay for €775.29. The seller never shipped the item and their account disappeared shortly after the transaction.
I opened an Item Not Received case with eBay and was told a refund would be issued. Since I didn’t see the refund arrive by the expected date, I opened a PayPal dispute.
As soon as I did that, eBay informed me they could no longer handle the case because PayPal had taken jurisdiction over the dispute.
PayPal then denied the claim, stating that the purchase was not covered by Purchase Protection. I appealed and was denied again.
Now:
- eBay says the case is closed because PayPal handled it.
- PayPal says the purchase is not covered.
- I never received the item.
- The seller disappeared.
To make things even stranger, eBay still shows a return option on the order, even though I never received anything and therefore have nothing to return.
Has anyone managed to get eBay to reopen a case after PayPal denied it?
