Intercontinental Times Square Memorial Day weekend

Just completed a stay at the Intercontinental Times Square over the Memorial Day weekend. We were taking our teens so we had opted for a Jr King Suite Midtown view to get a King Bed & pull out couch (vs 2 double beds in a regular sized room). Paid $1213.97 + 11,146 points (had used almost all our points for Hyatt hotels in Hawaii for the summer). Plus the $250 edit and $250 IHG credits were applied to bring it down to 713.97 out of pocket.

We arrived at 1 but our room was not ready (no upgrade). We were asked if we wanted 600 points or a drink at the bar. We opted for the points since we really don’t drink.

We went out to get lunch and do a little sightseeing. We got the text that our room was ready, but didn’t get back until 4:30. We checked in but weren’t given the ‘edit benefit sheet.’ Got up to the room and the sofa bed did not have linens and none were in the room. Only 3 bath towels for the 4 of us as well. So we went back down, asked for the sofa to be made up, extra towels and the edit benefit sheet. We did not get the welcome gift but since I had read it was a fruit plate & water I did not want bother at this point. Towels were delivered and we decided to go out for dinner rather than wait for the bed linens.

Get back after dinner and the sofa is made up, but there are no pillows! So another call & wait.

Next morning I opted for room service for breakfast vs going to the buffet since there were 4 of us & my husband doesn’t eat breakfast. And he likes to sleep in. Ordered 2 continental breakfasts plus a pot of coffee (got hot chocolate for the kids with the continental breakfast). We went to the American Natural History Museum in the morning and saw Wicked in the afternoon.

Check out morning I ordered 2 continental breakfasts, a bagel with salmon and another pot of coffee. I had (wrongly) assumed that the breakfast for 2 would only cover the 2 continental breakfasts each morning and I’d have to pay for the pots of coffee, the bagel w/salmon and delivery fee out of the $100 edit credit. Upon checkout we only had a balance of around $40 so that amount matched up to the bagel with salmon plus tax and service fee. So the delivery fee of $9 each morning and pots of coffee were included in covered breakfast cost. We did have late checkout until 2, but it was another rainy day in NYC so we opted to just get on Metro North and go home.

Anyone that stays in the future and plans to use in room dining for breakfast should ask what it actually includes so you don’t leave as much of the credit behind.

Area was fine. Rooms are worn (carpet had 2 holes and the upholstered chair had a hole in the upholstery).
