Title: Warning to Fellow UCR Students About Marcello’s Pizza
Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with Marcello’s Pizza so other UCR students can make their own informed decision before spending money there.
Over multiple visits, I’ve had consistently negative interactions with the manager. Instead of addressing customer concerns professionally, he has come across as dismissive, rude, and at times openly mocking. One interaction stood out when I asked for his name so I could report an issue to ownership. Rather than simply providing it, he sarcastically responded with “Service” and slowly spelled it out in a patronizing manner. Regardless of the reason for the complaint, that level of professionalism was disappointing.
Beyond the customer service concerns, I’ve also noticed what appeared to be hygiene issues. On separate occasions, my partner and I observed flies around food in the restaurant. I also noticed food handlers without beard coverings despite having facial hair. While I’m not a health inspector and can only speak to what I personally observed, it was enough to make me uncomfortable dining there.
What concerns me most is that reviews describing similar experiences seem to go back years. If these complaints are accurate and recurring, it raises questions about whether management takes customer feedback seriously.
I’m not posting this to attack anyone personally. I just think fellow students should know about experiences that may affect where they choose to eat. If you’ve had a different experience, feel free to share it. I’m interested in hearing whether others have encountered similar issues or if my experience was an outlier.
