Eating after jaw surgery (wired shut) and prolonged coma
My Stepfather got into a horrific moped crash 30 days ago. The main trauma was head and both upper and lower jaw which they 'fixed' 4 days after the accident. He was in a coma for roughly 20+ days. Now that he is awake the doctors made his jaw wired shut and he is getting discharged. The issue is in my homeland, they provided 0 support on how to approach eating now. First, the jaw wired shut + the combo of a prolonged coma. My mom has been chasing doctors in the maxillofacial surgery department on what to do now no one gives her any help or advice. So i decided to ask here. Maybe someone has advice for eating and foods. Thanks!
