hi! just wanted to post the difference i learned between step cut and brilliant cut diamonds
step cut diamonds like emerald and asscher have long straight facets they dont sparkle much instead they show a clean mirror like flash look they also show clarity more so imperfections are easier to see
brilliant cuts like round and oval have many small facets these are made to maximize sparkle so they look more bright and glowy in most lighting they also hide inclusions better
simple way to remember
step cut = clean elegant subtle shine
brilliant cut = lots of sparkle and fire
