AITA for telling my sister to change her baby name?
My sister is expecting and coming up with some baby name ideas. One of the names she wants to do is my nickname that I regularly go by (much more than my actual name) but with a one letter difference (it doesn’t change the pronunciation of the name). She didn’t frame it as a “I love you as a sister and so I want to name her after you” way, if so I’d maybe be okay with it. She just really likes the name and wants to use it. Also, my middle name is on her baby list too, but I’m okay with that since I don’t go by it.
I told her that she shouldn’t use that name just because it’s my name and obviously a big part of my identity. I told her family events could become confusing as well. She got upset and said she’d “think about it” and that I should be happy that I could share a name with my future niece, and that ultimately it is her decision to choose and I shouldn’t interfere. AITA?
