CIV 7 Sale Question

Hey guys!

I've seen a lot of people say that its best to take advantage of the Steam sale and get the base game and worry about the add-ons later, which makes sense. However, I've also seen a lot of comments/posts in this sub pointing out that Civ 7 has a very simple religion system, for example, and many other dynamics that seem stripped down compared to Civ 6.

For those of you that have had Civ 7 for a while, what are some of the features that 7 has that maybe 6 doesn't or maybe some things that 6 does better than 7 in general terms? I love how 6 evolved into a very sophisticated game with lots of things to micromanage and I like that. The vibe I get is that 7 is a much simpler game, and I feel like that means its kind of a barebones strategy game. Am I wrong there? Seems hard to find a good comparison as people are usually in one camp or another. I'd love some thoughtful takes, thanks all!
