Ginger cat, or an issue?
Hi all - this is my first ever Reddit post, so please forgive me if I do anything wrong. On that note, nice to meet you all and... please help me!
I got two kittens approximately a year ago, an orange tabby and a solid black, both male - they are currently around a year and a month old, both brothers from the same litter. Both are unneutered with plans to neuter them in the next month due to a shortage of money.
My ginger tom-cat has been having spraying and whilst we expected it, he seems to spray in the same corner despite us cleaning it with heavy duty sprays. At first we thought that he was peeing, but it turns out it is spraying - he does this on any dirty clothing that has been left on the side, or on clean laundry that drops from the hangers. This is not my main concern, but it is tied to the issue I've been having with him.
He is extremely loud. He both meows and yowls at the same time, multiple times throughout the day and for 5-10 minutes per time if not shorter or longer; sometimes he paces in a route (the front door, to a desk, to behind sofas, the window, then back to the front door to repeat), or he does it at the window, or it's standing still in a room. After he does this loud meow-yowl thing, he stares with his mouth slightly agape. I've never seen anything like it, and whilst his brother does meow really loud, it's nothing like this behaviour and is nowhere near as long, either. The pacing is what concerns me - I have an older cat, not the mother nor related, who has anxiety so she's extremely skittish and avoidant, but she doesn't do this pacing or yowling. Both brothers also have the natural habit of covering their food (well, trying to) after they eat, but the ginger tom does this excessively to the point where we have to move the bowls back into the kitchen.
What kind of behaviour is this? I'm not too sure if it's medical, hence why I thought I'd ask here before going to the vet thread. Thank you for any answers regardless!
(Note: I haven't been able to get a video of this yet, which is ironic considering how often it happens, I know - if I get one, I'll make sure to make an edit with it attached.)
