Looking for advice on 3D print shops online (Etsy and elsewhere). How are prices usually determined? And are lower-than-usual prices a sign of lower print quality?
Please note: I don't want to accuse any stores of anything unethical. I'm just worried I'm misunderstanding how pricing for 3D prints works, and what to look for with shops.
As the title says, I'm trying to figure out some stuff about different 3D print shops on Etsy or other sites, and what to look for when comparing them.
Basically, I've been buying minis around 32mm scale from multiple different sellers, and I've noticed a lot character minis of reasonable quality (i.e. minor cleanup required, but no serious issues) are around $7-9 after the seller's usual percentage discounts. However, a few stores (Missing Link Productions, for example) are a lot cheaper for the same stuff (i.e. under $6 for the same design, before any discount is included).
Does anyone know how stores like that typically determine prices? Do cheaper things usually mean lower quality printing (I don't know the parameters, but basically lower resolution), or is it other factors unrelated to the actual print?
