Opinion sought.

Is there an edition of rules that are widely considered peak and is still being played by many today or each new edition of rules generally considered an improvement on its predecessors?

I'm generally ignorant of anything released after whichever edition the black Eldar codex (3rd or 4th?). I just rediscovered this lot from storage which I assumed I had lost.

Anyone else miss WH40K Eternal Crusade's Eldar?

Does anyone else miss the Eternal Crusade Eldar? It was one of the few games where we were able to control and move around as Eldar with their own customization and classes.

I still get an urge to play it every time and again, sadly it's shut down now.

Autarch + Warlock + Storm Guardians + D Cannon Platform + Warlock Conclave?

By reading the rules for these Eldar units, is this combination legal?

2nd Edition Guardians

It had been half a year since I last picked up a paintbrush, and I still had this classic, old squad left to finish. Admittedly, due to the physical limitations that the passage of time imposes on my body, my painting gets worse by the day, but one has to keep going, little by little, even 30 years late! 😂

Harlequins

Bit of a general question but given I posted yesterday I could use some more help. So as stated in my last post I’m thinking of getting into playing Eldar and got my hands on some Corsair kits, I’m just curious to see if they would work well with Harlequins and the like cos I honestly both how they look and how they play

Isha - Mother of Seasons - Spring

And the waited continuation (for the few who commented about the next Seasons)

For Spring she needed to be lush and full whimsy, she may have ended up looking a bit too maiden-ish, but i like it. The sheer fabric gave her weightlessness me thinks. Lots of roses (her flower) and twirls, It's nature uncontrollable~

:3c

Summer when? Who knows! But she won't be alone for the next one.

Thoughts?

Farseers x 3

Farseer skyrunners x 3

Warlocks x 3

Storm guardians x 3

4 Warlock conclaves x 3

2 warlock skyrunners x 3

6 windriders x 3

Cost: 1995 points

Detachments: seer council (the extra 1dp does not matter as no 1dp detachment can benefit any units)

Curious on what I should spend my last 300 points on

It's my first ever time building a warhammer 40k army, and I've chosen seer council eldar, I've built a 2000 point list with my limited knowledge on the game and with the aid of the codex, I'm not looking for a highly competitive list, just something fun, my current units are:

-Eldrad (warlord)

-farseer

-farseer skyrunner

-jain zar

-spiritseer

-howling banshees

-3 shining spears models

-4 model warlock conclave

-warlock skyrunners

-storm guardians

-2 war walkers models

-2 vypers models

-wraith blades

-wraithlord

-wave serpent

I was considering warp spiders with Lhykhis, or swooping hawks with an autarch wayleaper for some deep strike, but I feel I need some more large heavier hitting models, ik aeldari is quite a glass cannon.

Corsair Conclave test

With zero intentions of forking over the money you would normally need for multiple Warlocks, I decided to use several of the Voidreavers/scarred from my Eldritch Raiders box to make my own Warlocks with a throw back to the era of Rogue Trader.

Warlock kitbash

Getting back into 40k via 4th edition, and wanted some Warlocks to help lead my new Eldar force! The hobby seems to have come so far in the 20 odd years since 4th, but Warlocks seem harder to come by. At least without paying crazy prices. So I kitbashed some AoS parts with some Guardian and Dire Avenger pieces, including printed bits from Elfhead3D. What to you guys think?

Where to start / Where to go?

Hey all,

I’m interested in starting an Eldar army, and I wasn’t fully sure where to start and where to go from there. I have other armies, but they tend to be more durable, and so I’m not sure how to go about Aeldari

My plan was going to be to get the Combat Patrol, a wraithlord, and my LGS has the aircraft on discount and I love it so I thought I’d get it. Is this a good start? How do I go to 1k/2k from there?

I like all of the Asuryani range, and am open to including harlequins/corsairs. My favorite parts of the range are aspect warriors, wraiths, and the falcon-chassis vehicles. I was also going to pick up the Avatar of Khaine when going to 2k

Thanks in advance for your help

P.S. Feel free to try to sell me on a specific model/unit that you like

P.P.S. Thank you mods for have a new player tag

How would Craft world Eldar react to Drukhari colonizing/invading a Exodite Maiden world?

So Im in the process of moving into my first house...and havnt had alot of hobby time.

But it's pretty much all I can think about right now, and in between ripping out floors and painting walls I've been running wild with narrative campaigns to make.

Mainly my question arises from my narrative idea. Basically Drukhari and Corsair have decided to invade and colonize a major Exodite Maiden world to act as a base of operations as they plunder and exploit neighboring systems. Basically acting as a treasure / slave vault where theyve built up the maiden world cities, they've introduced more technology. And have basically taken control of the planet installing a Corsair Queen she isn't exactly nice.

I'm by no means a lore expert, and obviously if you follow lore to a T it's a bit more tricky to have fun. But I would like to have a dialogue about how Crafter worlders would react to learning this. Would they care enough to restore the regular functions of the Maiden world? Would they view it as okay because it's still technically eldar conquering the planet and not another race?

11th 2v2 units

Looking for any suggestions on units that you have experience or believe could be good in a 11th 2v2 game

At the moment I have most of the aspects, etc

Also detachments what looks promising/good. Seer council has been nice the last 2v2 game I played

Any suggestions, etc would be appreciated

The Eldar have become hyper-specialized to the point of uselessness

I've heard the arguments, I know, I know. "Eldar don't win slugfests." "Eldar score on secondaries." "Eldar are a glass cannon." "Eldar have a high skill floor." "Eldar take effort to learn."

Blah blah blah blah blah.

While all these are very well and good in principle, in practice we have to acknowledge that the rules GW gives for it are horribly executed. The idea of a glass cannon army makes perfect sense... but is so poorly implemented in the way 40k's (already bloated and convoluted) rule system tries to realize that idea, that it just plain fails on the actual tabletop.

And I don't think it's down to malice or GW "hating" eldar, they've just become so obsessed with making every faction "unique" that they've whittled away every aspect of the eldar that doesn't revolve around "go fast." Because "go fast" is our faction's specialty, just like "numbers" is for Orks, Guard, and Tyranids, "tanky" is for Necrons and Death Guard, "shooty" is for T'au and Votann, and "generalist" is for Marines.

Which is theoretically fine, but at this point it's left the army with no actual tools, abilities, or strengths beyond "runs really fast." They got so lost in trying to give us a "unique identity" they forgot that identity has to be functional at the end of the day.

I'm not going to respond to comments on this BTW.
