"Tucking the tailbone", etc. advice
Hi friends,
I have a bit of a conundrum on my hands. I (37M) have been dancing ballroom for a little over 7 years and the one thing I've NEVER been able to get right is the idea of being "tucked", which is essentially rotating your pelvis forward to maintain more of a straight spine in things like smooth.
I'd been told by various instructors it was something I should work on, but it wasn't until I saw video of myself recently that I realized that not only do I need to work on that but I'm fairly certain I have a pretty heinous case of anterior pelvic tilt from all the sitting I did in my 20's.
Any time I've tried to do what an instructor has asked, I've either quit breathing while trying or felt like I couldn't move at all, and I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do about it. I'm sure I'm not alone here though! What are some tips, tricks, exercises, etc you've heard or used to help with being tucked and/or anterior pelvic tilt? My next comp is in 3 months and I'd like to get some improvement on this before then! TIA :)
