AITA for not giving back gas money to pay for my ex-friend's Deadpool memorabilia?

I (38F) used to have this friend a long time ago. Let's call her Ashley (34F). She is a single mom and has a young daughter. A while ago, Ashley asked me if I could give her a ride to the store. I live 45 minutes away from her, so I asked for some gas money, which she complied. Gas is rather expensive, so I couldn't afford to give rides for free, which she understood completely.

So one day, I took Ashley and her daughter to the store, as I was in town running errands. She gave me $10 for gas so I can make it back home safely. Ashley loves Deadpool, so she won't hesitate to buy anything Deadpool she comes across. The problem is, she doesn't look at the price tag when she tries to pay for it, and she's even asked me to return the gas money she gave me so she can pay for a toy for her daughter. I declined, saying that money was earmarked for me for gas so I can go home. She got mad, saying I was being selfish and inconsiderate for not letting her get a toy, whether it was for her or her daughter. It was to the point where I would sneak away, telling Ashley I had to make a phone call or to use the restroom, and I would go get gas without her knowledge. I don't like it when I'm given something, then the person asks for it back for no reason ....

Please tell me, AITAH for saying no to returning the gas money?
