I need to spread awareness of what's happening here in Humboldt, this one's a gruesome one and hits close to home for me. Over the past year, 900 dogs were sent to Miranda's Rescue, and over 700 dogs were unaccounted for. Investigators found a mass grave on the property with so far 117 fully intact bodies of dogs, over 20 skulls, hundreds of bones and over 600 dog collars. Most of these dogs were microchipped, and most had gunshot wounds...
Many shelters across NorCal, including San Francisco would pay and send dogs here because it was labeled a "no-kill" shelter, when in reality they were being murdered and labeled "adopted"
This breaks my heart, I haven't been able to stop thinking about this, currently Shannon Miranda has NOT been charged with anything yet and the property is still allowed to operate with ongoing investigations.
He is being investigated by the FBI for fraud, it's cross departmental, the California DA is on it, the sheriff's office, and even Cal Poly Humboldt's anthropology department is helping to investigate.
it's likely he won't see any charges for animal cruelty because taking the life of a dog isn't illegal. It's absolutely sickening, and I have no words for how sad it makes me to see how cruel humans are to innocent creatures, and how important vegan activism is! There are currently protests against Miranda's being held by the Eureka courthouse to stop his organization
