Showerthoughts: The PSVR2 is probably one of the few gaming devices that won’t be affected by the AI induced component shortages.
I was thinking about replacing my PSVR2 due to how badly my launch edition headset has aged (the cord is fraying, among other things).
My attitude lately has been to hold off on any more gaming hardware purchases due to all the crazy RAM, SSD, and now GPU price hikes. But it has occurred to me that literally none of that is associated with the PSVR2. I suspect this might be a good thing for the community? Lenses and the OLED screen don’t seem to be affected and whatever circuit boards are utilized, their usage is probably pretty minimal.
I wonder if this might actually be the only gaming device that could actually possibly come down in price in the near future? It almost certainly won’t go up (fingers crossed).
