X3 Suspension & Body Roll
I’m considering getting an X3 and I’m trying to figure out if I’m sensitive to the suspension setup on the new 2025/2026 X3s.
I recently test drove:
- a 2025 X3 with standard suspension & 21” wheels
- a 2025 X3 with M Sport Suspension & 21” wheels
- a 2026 X3 with M Sport suspension & 20” wheels
Interestingly, the first car with standard suspension made me feel lightheaded/motion sick afterward, while I was fine in the last two cars.
I have gotten motion sick driving some crossovers, like the CX-5 and Sportage, but not the CR-V nor HR-V.
Most of my test drive was done on city roads and some expressways (not a true freeway). Would the standard suspension feeling floatier or cause more body roll? And does the M Sport suspension feel noticeably more planted/controlled?
Also wondering:
- does tire pressure make a big difference on these?
- does Sport mode help at all on the standard suspension cars?
I am trying to figure out whether I should specifically avoid standard suspension X3s or if this was just a weird one-off.
The car that made me motion sick was also detailed recently before it was put up for sale and I’m also unsure if I’m just sensitive to the chemicals they might have used, even though it’d been 24+ hours.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
Edit: Does anyone know if the M Sport Package can come with standard suspensions?
