Done with the Abominations, next… the Orcs

Quite happy how they ended up, considering that I am painting with cheap acrylic markers.

The thing that surprised me the most was and probably you already know, it is how things change when you apply a wash colour. I was painting on a two grey colour scheme (earth grey and dark grey) but I wasn’t moved by the result, then applied a blue wash on top and it became my favourite one.

Now to the next task, painting orcs. “Build me an army worthy of Morcar” (I have to say it) 😁

I am in two minds…

Should I stop here and leave it as they are, or should I tone down part of the armour and get a grimy look and not that shiny?

I am still WIP

My take on the Gargoyles

I’ve decided to go with a stone like finish with the Gargoyles. Why 4? Because one it was too boring 😁

The Witch Lord can only be on classic colour schemes, right?

After playing with the Dread Sorcerers I went for a classic Red, Gold & Black scheme for the Witch Lord. How did you painted yours?

My Skellies Elite Squad is ready for battle

I’ve finished painting my four special skellies that I can use to identify “advanced skeletons” or make a completely new type of skeleton (that is my personal preference) one with a blunt weapon that can stun you and the cross bow one with ether poisonous darts or magic darts with some sort of explosion, fire, ice… effects (according to the theme of the adventure)

While my Witch Lord gets ready; someone must command the undead army

Before I get locked into a colour scheme for the Witch Lord and three different Evil Wizards I wanted to try some effects over metallic paints, Fluor paint and others… and I used this two pewter miniatures that I had from long ago for my tests, but I think they will be an incredible centre piece (boss) for a couple of homebrew adventures.

I finished painting the undead; now… the fun ones

After painting the furniture, I jumped into the undead hordes and this is the result. Maybe a little heavy on the wash, but I do like the grimy dirty look. I am still painting them with cheap acrylic markers & AK Metallic Markers, and for the places that I cannot reach with de markers, I push the paint with a brush 😁.

Now that this is done, it is time to get braver and play with the green stuff and fill those skeletons gaps.

Choices… nah! All of them; and more

This post is a continuation from two weeks ago. So… at the end I ended up recessing a magnet inside the frame and sticking all the pictures on magnetic paper so I can change pictures at will but this unlocked a next idea, I can 3D print or sculpt anything and stick it with a magnet on the fireplace. Of course it will not be a lever, but it was what I had by hand to test the idea.

Choices…

I was planning to stick a map on my recently painted fireplace but it is so tiny that you can barely tell that it is a map, so… I’m going for a portrait painting, probably the one on the far right or the one beside it.

What’s on your fireplace?

A little experiment with skeletons

For some reason that I cannot comprehend, I have in my possession about twelve skeletons with the scythe and I thought… too many scythe, we need something here, so I chopped the hands off and placed this arms from the pack frost grave cultists to create two new ones. It is a little bit out of scale and will need a little bit of green stuff but kinda works.

Of course this is not going to be just a cosmetic change, for the one with the crossbow I plan for him to throw poisoned bolts or paralyse ones. For the one with the maze, I was thinking that gets an extra attack die if the target is not equipped with a shield, or in case of damage the target gets stunned on a roll of 5 or 6.

What are your thoughts?

Not bad for a first time painter… I hope

To be painted with cheap acrylic markers I’ve got to say that the result it is not bad at all. I’ve only invested on a couple metallic markers from AK, a couple of washes and a white paint for the dry brush. I have now to give them the final touches, like blood stains, skulls & rats, etc…

I’ve got to say that it was a little overwhelming try to get all the furniture done at once for a first time miniature painter (worse my case that I got some extra pieces of furniture like an extra library, cupboard and some doors) so… for next project I’m going to try to go a little bit easier on me; like one type of monster at the time.

Any way, thanks for the advice and the criticism in advance.

Well… it’s about time…

After more than five years I think; it’s about time to get start painting my miniatures.

It is my first time ever painting miniatures, back in the 90’s I had my heroquest game & expansions all in plastic, it never bothered me, I wanted the game to play. But now that I have the time let’s try it.

I am going to start with the furniture, base colour and dry brush the hell out of the doors & fire place, then some washes over and some touches with acrylic markers; let’s see how it goes.

I’ve got them all primed and tomorrow I will start the endeavour.

Wish me luck!!

Remember those times…

…when we had one big expansion, one small expansion and a hero expansion all on the same year? Do we have to wait until October for some news?

It just arrived, from UK to the other side of the world in 17 days… not bad considering what it’s happening in between
