Opus 5.5's new safety injections

It seems like there's been a crackdown from Anthropic with Opus 5.5 and Erotic story writing.

There is a new safety injection that says, "no non-con, no coercion, no incest, even with adult characters". It exist both through Claude Code and Anthropic Provider on Open Router.

There was no such thing about 12hrs ago, stories I was able to write then is now impossible to continue now.

Trying other providers on OR doesn't seem to have this safety injection, but they get "content filter" stop reason half way through thinking, even when there is no COT or reasoning instructions.

I haven't tested Anthropic's direct API, but I suspect it's the same.

This is looking very hopeless, literally any way of using 5.5 for non-con Erotic Stories are being blocked.

Anyone else experiencing this?

New level of censorship in such short time - Fable 5

Yeah, Fable is even more censored than Opus 4.8. Not surprised tho.

Tested through claude sub and OR. OR through Amazon Bedrock seems to be a bit less censored, it does write NSFW. The results aren't very conclusive, it's just a first-hand experience, I don't have the wallet to test this thing thoroughly.

This is totally expected, the model is only on a test run for a month anyway.

Still, when the model does write it writes very well. And it can write smut (the screenshot is just a comparison case to test against opus). So, I'd consider this a big W.

Opus 4.8's Censorship

This is an update to my last post on this sub. Link

In my last post, my assumption was that the model itself was simply censored out of the box, as it appeared that way. But there were so many other people being so confident in asserting that it was the opposite, I decided to do some more testing. It turns out, they were kinda right.

When I was testing with direct api through OR, I made the mistake of never specifying the model provider. And after I did, the results were completely different.

The model itself isn't censored, there was simply an 'Anthropic filter'. i.e. it's only censored when the request is going directly to Anthropic. For API it's when the model provider is selected as Anthropic, and for claude.ai it's just censored completely.

I've tested only with OR and claude sub, as those are the only ones I use.

For the providers(OR):

Google Vertex & Amazon Bedrock are both uncensored. It goes through 9/10 times.

Anthropic is censored. It goes through about 2/10 times.

As for claude sub: It's completely censored.

So basically, I think people are just unknowingly running into these 'filters'. It is clearly something intentional on Anthropic's part, but I'm not sure how other model providers(other than OR) are affected.

I'm guessing that it's simply a prompt injection which tells the model to 'safety maxx'. And this only affects 4.8, both 4.6/4.7 are still uncensored across any medium.

But this is actually good news, it means that the model itself isn't censored that much. i.e. this could just be a safety measure Anthropic's taking post-release, which might drop in the future (I do remember 4.7 being less censored since release, not sure tho).

Opus 4.8 is such sad news

I say it's sad because it's not even a bad model.

It's genuinely better, compared with both 4.6 and 4.7, in both prose and creativity. It feels like what 4.7 should have been.

But it's censored unlike any Claude model has ever been. I've been using opus for over a year now, not a single opus model was like this. Though it can do NSFW, it's very sensitive to anything nonconsensual, and using other models to kickstart a chat doesn't work. I've had constant refusals on ten+ swipes with an old story that had 100k+ context.

And this clearly isn't a prompting/JB issue. 4.8 refuses at scenarios all the other opus models wouldn't dream of refusing.

TL;DR If someone told me that an opus model has this kind of censorship three days ago, I wouldn't have believed them. But here it is. It's close to unusable for ERP, or any story that's under a dark setup.

Now the situation we're facing is: opus 4.6, the last genuinely good model from Claude, is going to be removed soon; And the trend for Opus models is not looking good for the future.

(I've tested with both api from OR and reverse proxy with Claude sub)

A side note: I have been using claude models since sonnet 3.7, and have been building on a personal preset for over a year. I know I am capable of doing basic comparison tests, and these are the results I've been seeing. If anyone's getting any contradictory results, please share your testing environment, and I'll be happy to test and verify. Otherwise, these are the facts I know as of now, and I do hope that things could change for the better.
