Picked up earrings this week at small sales around town. Got an assortment of clip ons. Spent 7usd on them all together. Vendome, Trifari, Hong Kong stamped, Judy Lee, Hobe, and a made in Austria pair. Unfortunately no broaches or pins to match but not a bad lil batch of extra pieces to add to my rotation :)
Found this at an estate sale for literally a single dollar 😳 After doing some digging and testing, I think I stumbled onto a piece of genuine history, likely an early 20th-century Ottoman/Mediterranean prayer or worry bead strand (Tasbih/Komboloi).Here are the details and test results. The Hidden Glow, at rest the beads look almost black. But when held up to the window light, they burst into a fiery, glowing cherry crimson. The Weight & Tooth Test, the whole strand is incredibly lightweight at exactly 21g. It clicks hard like glass against the teeth, but feels way too light to actually be glass. The Friction Scent, rubbing a bead vigorously until it gets hot releases a distinct, oddly soapy chemical aroma the definitive calling card of aged phenolic resin / cherry amber bakelite (Faturan). The Bone Accent, under a loupe the cream colored terminal piece shows clear parallel pits and dark lines, confirming it's antique animal bone, not plastic or ivory. The Wear, there is a tiny bit of honest chipping at the base of the middle bead, along with a beautifully worn disc-shaped spacer bead, hand-braided textile cord, and a patinated terminal knot system
Idk maker lots of comps no 1to1, era mid century id guess from the backside construction indicators.
Split shank cuff 925 stamp 37g. Torque cuff TJA 800 stamp 42g. Hook & eye bangle no stamp 34g. Still looking for a stamp on the bangle may polish some and see if I can detect one under loupe.
