Why are the sidewalks and streets in Budapest so dirty ?
I just finished my 3 days city break in Budapest. Although i was positively surprised by the city's overal beauty and architecture, in the same time i was surprised by how dirty the sidewalks were as soon as you live the city center. I really didn't expect it especially coming from a eastern European capital. I have visited many European cities and capitals including Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Bucharest and many other smaller cities but i have never seen anything like Budapest. Sure Brussels has some dirty places , Paris we all know what It has become. Although the city center was extremely beautiful and cleaner than what I saw in Brussels for example, as soon as you leave it you can see piss stains every 5 meters, all sorts of other liquids that I couldn't identify all over the sidewalks, cigarette butts are also pretty much everywhere and occasionally some vomit and blood and I will also mention the smell who is hardly endurable. My Overall experience of Budapest was amazing, i loved the stunning architecture, the food was amazing though not as cheap as i was expecting the people were welcoming and didn't have any sorts of problem but the lack of cleanliness out of the city center heavily altered the experience. Question for the locals ; How do you do everyday to get over the dirtiness ? Why isn't anything being done ?
As an end note i think Budapest would be a 10/10 destination and city to live in if the streets were cleaner, it's such a shame that a beautiful like that is so dirty and smelly.
