Repair of Costco-purchased unit (not a recall unit)

I purchased a new 12k unit last August, and it started giving me an EH-03 error (issue with interior blower) a couple of days ago. Since it's still under warranty, I contacted Midea, and after a few back-and-forths via email, they told me that it's not serviceable, and since it was purchased at Costco I need to bring it back there. Now, it happens that I live in Manhattan, so bringing it back to Costco is a major pain (I purchased it online and I no longer have the carton). Anyone ever buy one of these at Costco and dealt with a warranty issue?

My mother's moving but wants to keep her old land line number that she's had for decades. She has a cell phone as well but wants to have a separate "land line" (yes, I know that VOIP isn't technically a land line, but we'll roll with it). At the moment she's living with us, but once she gets her new place I'm going to get her a Magicjack or something to transfer the number to. In the meantime, what would be the cheapest way to temporarily transfer the number so she won't lose it? Ideally it will be able to make and receive calls and get voicemail, but that's it: no texting, no data. I have an old iphone 12 mini that was previously on Verizon that I'm hoping to have her use; under "Carrier lock" it says No SIM Restrictions, so I assume that means we can use it anywhere? This is in the US. I guess we could probably use the secondary IMEI on her current phone, but I think that might be more confusing for her.

ETA: Any month-to-month options that use the Verizon network?
