Finally got the ole girl looking good! 1965 mustang that needed a lot of work to shine like this! Paint correction and Ceramic Coating. Raleigh, North Carolina May/ 2026.

I hope the plethora of photos are okay. This is my 1965 mustang. I just picked it up from getting a full paint correction and ceramic coating at a local small business in Raleigh. I added a few photos of the paint before and there is a photo the detailer sent me of a before/ after on the hood. So you can see just how oxidized the paint was beforehand.

This is original paint and I know it’s not perfect, I drive this thing!! When I saw it after getting all the work done to it, my jaw hit the floor! It looks so good I wanted to share.

Due to the age of the vehicle I opted for a ceramic coating, I think it can add some gloss and create a barrier sort of like a clear coat for the paint. The detailer showed me a picture of the amount of red paint that came off this during the buffing stage and it was staggering. When I drive do wn the road the chrome refracts so much light, it feels dangerous to others.

I learnt my lesson trying to polish my Model Y. Eventually I took it to a professional and got it corrected and Ceramic Coated. I’m happy with the results. Raleigh, NC.

On a recent road trip I ended up getting stuck behind a cement truck. There was cement debris flying out of the back end and hitting/ splattering on the front of my Tesla. I didn’t think it would be an issue until I saw the damage a few hours later. All of those tiny spots you see on the hood, was dried cement which left damage to the clear coat and tiny holes. I thought I could fix it, so I tried to take an old polisher I had and I made it a lot worst. I ended up putting these major scratches in the paint and this freaked me out! I thought I was cooked and needed a new respray. I ended up bringing this to a local detail shop here in Raleigh and had the gentleman do a deep paint correction, some paint touchups and a full ceramic coating. In the end the situation is now fixed and my Y looks better than it did before all the ruckus. It was a hard lesson to learn but I hope this can be a guide to the weekend warriors that sometimes you can make a bad situation worst with lack of skills/ knowledge. I will leave these things to the professionals.
